Florida's Department of Health (Florida Health) reported three new cases of non–travel-related Zika today, including one outside the 1-square-mile "hot zone" in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami. There are now 28 locally transmitted Zika cases in Florida.

Florida Health officials said they believe active transmission is occurring only in a 10-block area of Miami-Dade County, just north of downtown Miami. All active investigations currently under way are being conducted in Miami-Dade County.

There were also 10 new travel-related Zika cases reported in the state. Florida has 413 travel-related cases, and 58 of those are in pregnant women.

Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that the first case of locally transmitted Zika virus in Miami was in a pregnant woman. All pregnant women are still encouraged to avoid the Wynwood neighborhood, and Florida Gov. Rick Scott has said Zika testing will be available to women at each prenatal appointment.

Though 80% of Zika cases typically cause few or no symptoms, pregnant women infected with the virus can give birth to babies with severe birth defects, including microcephaly, a smaller-than-normal brain.
CDC: Zika spikes in Puerto Rico

In its weekly Zika update late yesterday, the CDC docuмented a spike of Zika cases in the US territories, mostly in Puerto Rico.

As of Aug 10, there are now 6,587 Zika cases in US territories, up by 1,039 from last week. But the Associated Press (AP) is reporting even larger numbers: 10,690, according to Puerto Rico's Health Secretary Ana Rius, MD. Rius said that's 1,914 new cases this week. A total of 1,035 cases in Puerto Rico involve pregnant women, according to the story.

The United States now has 1,962 cases, 137 more than last week, the CDC said. All but 6 cases are travel-related, according to the agency, who has yet to confirm the 22 addition locally transmitted cases in Florida. Twenty-two of the cases in the US are sɛҳuąƖly transmitted.

According to the CDC, as of Aug 4 there are 510 pregnant women in the 50 states who've tested positive for Zika virus and 521 in US territories. Those numbers are up by 31 and 28 women, respectively.

In addition, 16 babies have been born in the United States with Zika-related birth defects (1 more than last week), along with 5 pregnancy losses involving abnormalities related to Zika virus, the CDC said. The number of poor pregnancy outcomes grew to 2 in US territories, as the CDC reported a baby born with Zika-related birth defects for the first time in a territory.

The CDC also reported six cases of Zika-related Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), a neurologic disorder. That's one additional case since last week. New York still has the highest incidence of Zika virus infection, with 530 cases, 41 more than last week.
    WHO, PAHO situation reports

Meanwhile, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) published its biweekly Zika situation report, noting that the Bahamas now has confirmed local transmission of the mosquito-borne disease.

Several countries in Central and South America are docuмenting a decreasing trend in cases. Mexico has also noticed a drop in cases, as have all Caribbean countries except St. Barthelemy and St. Martin.

Finally, the աօʀʟd ɦɛaʟtɦ օʀɢaռiʐatɨօռ (WHO) released its weekly Zika situation report yesterday, added the Cayman Islands to the total number of countries or territories with Zika virus, bringing the number to 69. Zika is endemic in 4 of those countries.

Grenada is the latest country to report Zika-linked GBS. Now 17 countries have docuмented such cases.

Fifteen countries have reported cases of microcephaly, with two cases recently reported in Guinea-Bissau in families with no travel history. Genetic sequencing tests are still pending on Zika samples from that country to assess if they virus belongs to the Americas strain or the African strain.

Brazil reported 24 more cases of microcephaly, bringing that country's total to 1,773. In light of the Summer Olympics, the WHO said Brazil is providing Zika virus test kits, made available by the local authorities, at the Central Public Health Laboratory in Rio de Janeiro. Testing is encouraged for symptomatic athletes, volunteers, visitors, and residents.

  • Texas infant death from microcephaly due to Zika infection:

    link

    Quote
Texas has confirmed that an infant who recently died in hαɾɾιs County had microcephaly linked to the Zika virus. The baby passed away shortly after birth and is the first Zika-related death reported in Texas.

During her pregnancy, the mother was in Latin America, where she was infected, and the baby acquired the infection in the womb. Recent test results confirmed the baby’s condition and link to Zika. The mother and baby are classified as travel-related cases, and there is no additional associated risk in Texas.

Last month Texas reported the state’s first case of microcephaly linked to Zika, also a hαɾɾιs County infant.

“Zika’s impact on unborn babies can be tragic, and our hearts are with this family,” said Dr. John Hellerstedt, Texas Department of State Health Services commissioner. “Our central mission from the beginning has been to do everything we can to protect unborn babies from the devastating effects of Zika.”

DSHS is coordinating with hαɾɾιs County Public Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to follow the cases.

Texas has reported 99 cases of Zika virus disease, including the two infants with microcephaly from hαɾɾιs County. All Texas cases are related to travel abroad to areas with active Zika transmission. There have been no reported cases of Zika virus disease transmitted by mosquitoes in Texas, but Texas is on alert for the possibility local transmission.

With its link to microcephaly, Zika poses a serious threat to unborn children. DSHS is tracking the number of pregnant women with Zika in the state, working with providers and reporting weekly data to the national Zika pregnancy registry. DSHS is studying past microcephaly data to understand the prevalence and patterns of this condition in Texas.

DSHS has been emphasizing precautions, specifically for travelers and pregnant women, through an ongoing public education campaign and via www.TexasZika.org.

  • Zika virus up?  Does it say humans?  Does it say men or women?  Hm?  Next, zika babies have zika related birth defects.

There are drugs that can give the same result; if it means half-brain or small brain babies.

Number 1:  Clomid, or clomephine for ovulating is being used and so much that the docs give it out like m&m's.  IF a lady is irregular, and young women are to start, the docs give clomid.  It has been proven to do the same results.

Thaldimide was another. Small brain babies and flippers or no limbs. This drug was used in the 40'50's.  Was it taken off the market?  Was the drug just given another name and continues?

In order for babies to have small or half brains it requires the drug, clomid to be circulating from conception.

Is it possible for man to play god and give this to us?  Sure!  Will they prove it?  No!

Can this be some what of a hoax?   It could.  Can it be a purposely put on paranoia to bring on vaccines and more money for someone.  And could it be possible that these so-called vaccines will be what "they" claim they are, or worse?

All vaccines are to come with the adversities on an insert, in small print.  Be very wary of ingredients:  especially the one that reads: "other" and does not list "other".

  • The Price of Ovulation, book by Terence Mix

By a lawyer, showing Clomid/clomiphene connected to birth defects, one being small brain babies.  Proved the drug was there at conception and had to be to have the birth defects, including flippers or no limbs.  The paper back is about 3" thick.  A lawyer showing just how the pharmaceutical companies play the gave on us the consumer.

In the 80's the PDR books explained clomiphene and how the doctors were to follow the patient and they don't.  I am in a field to see these women/and husband who cry to have children.  For the low fertility that they do have, the docs make it worse to destroy with these drugs.  Clomiphene has chemical make up similar to the actions of radiation.  As we know, you just don't use that when becoming pregnant.  Radiation actions may bring on ovulation, BUT it takes away from fertile cervical mucus that filters sperm to have a most perfect sperm, so as to eliminate the possibilities of abnormalities to miscarriages.   How God works!
