    Gov. Tim Walz will end the state's mask mandate on Friday after federal health officials recommended that fully ναccιnαted people don't need to wear masks in most situations.
    Businesses will be free to make their own decisions about whether to ask customers or employees to mask up, but Walz said that the time has come to discontinue the mask mandate that has stood since July 25.
    "We know that masks were a critical tool in the early stage and still remain today in slowing or stopping the transmission of the cσɾσnαvιɾυs," Walz said.
    Minnesota health officials will still encourage mask wearing among those who are not fully ναccιnαted, but that guidance will not have the legal force of a mandate.
    "I have really mixed feelings about this," said Minnesota Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm. "We are the fourth highest state in the country for case growth."
    State health officials announced Thursday that more than 50% of the ναccιnє eligible population, or 2.2 million residents, have been fully ναccιnαted. Altogether, 2.7 million, or 60.9% of those 16 and older, have received at least one shot.
    The pace of new shots has been slowing since the first week of April, when nearly 410,000 CÖVÌD-19 ναccιnє doses were administered. But last week saw just 235,349 doses given.
    "We don't have nearly enough people ναccιnαted to keep this virus suppressed," Malcolm said. "It will come back if we don't continue to build up more vaccinations."
    Walz and Malcolm said they were surprised when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the new mask guidance on Thursday. Last week, Walz set the state on a path that would have ended the mask mandate by July 1 or when 70% of Minnesotans older than 15 received at least one shot.
    The CDC said that regardless of vaccination status, masks should still be worn in crowded indoor settings, including airplanes, buses, hospitals, prisons and homeless shelters. People are considered to be fully ναccιnαted two weeks after receiving the last of the two-dose pfιzєr or mσdernα ναccιnєs or the one-dose Johnson & Johnson ναccιnє.
    "We're still analyzing everything that came out of this announcement," Walz said. "As we've done from the beginning we've followed CDC guidance as closely as we could."
    Walz and Malcolm said they considered keeping the mask mandate for those who were not fully ναccιnαted, but rejected that option as too difficult to enforce. "Setting up a dual-tier system ... would prove more of a challenge and less efficient," Walz said.
    Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove said some businesses may continue to require masks as way to help customers and employees feel safe.
    "We know businesses without a state mandate will manage this in different ways," he said. "We want to be clear that we don't expect businesses to be cops at the door asking for ναccιnє cards."
    The end of the statewide mask mandate does not preclude local governments from setting and enforcing their own mask requirements. Malcolm cautioned that the lifting of the mandate does not mean that the pandemic is over.
    "I certainly agree with the governor that there is some good news here," she said. "The guidance is that fully ναccιnαted people are essentially free to go back to our activities that we did before the pandemic.
    "People who are not ναccιnαted still are at risk," she added. "My concern about this is there is still a lot of people who are not ναccιnαted."    [/font]

    • My predictions:

    1) Liberal business owners and managers will continue to require the face diaper;

    2) Almost everyone, brainwashed or cowardly, will continue to wear the diaper in places which no longer require them to (such as has been the case at the local Walmart for the last 6 months), to feel safe;

    3) Employers will now begin to discriminate regarding the ναccιnαted (who will not be required to mask up), and the unjabbed, who will be required to mask;

    • Yes, agree with your predictions.  A further prediction is that the CDC will, every few months, keep changing the mask requirements, just like the TSA constantly changed airport screening requirements post 9/11, based on “threat levels”.  They’ll treat this virus using the same playbook as anti-terror.

    Just came from local Walmart, in locale where:

    1) Sheriff announced 9 months ago he would not enforce mandate;

    2) Walmart hasn't attempted to enforce mandate in 6-7 months;

    3) Governor removes statewide mandate.

    1 woman.

    Yes, people have been brainwashed, shamed, and otherwise programmed to want to wear their masks.

    I bet that fewer of the vaxxed remove the mask than the unvaxxed.

    Yeah, that makes sense.  In Ohio they have various counties locked down to various degrees based on their threat-level.  So they already do this in Ohio to a point (yellow, orange, red, purple).

    • Mask Mandate also ended in Colorado for those that received the vaccination.

    Wearing a Mask now is a give away that you had not been vaccinated.

    They claimed that 90% of Coloradans have been vaccinated.

    As Lad alluded to though....I don't think who the wearers and the non-wearers are will be clear-cut.  There will be vaxxers who will still wear them, and there will be non-vaxxers who will not.
    Personally, I'm beginning to think that part of this is a reprieve for the vaxxers.  They know that we're in for another wave or variant or whatever you want to call it which will require us all to wear those masks again. And they'll somehow pin it on the non-vaxxers and say, "but we're not! we're following the SCIENCE!!"
