  • Stubborn, thanks for the cap info. I'm a new convert.  I never get sore throats ever, but a few months ago a killer one started.  I used a cayenne pepper gargle and it was gone in and hour.  I was floored.

And for coughs, my family uses this very successfully (has cayenne)

  • Oooh, that sounds like a good cough syrup recipe! I will certainly make some next cold I get.

I've been taking extra strength cough drops since like forever for coughs and congestion - between the cayenne and eucalyptus in them, they are the strongest I've ever tried - they actually suppress the cough amazingly well and they really help clear my head.

Worth trying when you have a cough instead of regular cough drops.

Large amounts of vitamin C should be taken in divided doses throughout the day.
Begin with 1 or 2 grams (equivalent to '/»to Vi teaspoonful) of pure crystalline vitamin C dissolved in juice or water.
Increase the intake by 1 or 2 grams on each subsequent day until a laxative action develops. At this point, reduce the dose by 1 or 2 grams below this bowel tolerance level and maintain that dose thereafter.

I finally began, and I'm at 10 grams so far. I can already see it working. Some little scratches are healing very quickly. I'm glad it's affordable and convenient.

I notice that sodium ascorbate seems to be the ideal form for mega doses taken orally. I read that excess calcium can be harmful, and ascorbic acid is too acidic in those high doses. By the way, a few sites say that osteoarthritis can be aggravated with too much vitamin C. I hope any damage is reversible.

    Two final things:

    1.  Be sure your vitamin C is easily absorbable, either in powder form (it's bitter - mix w/AJ) or a capsule.

A while ago I was told that the body can absorb about 1,000 mg of vitamin C / hour, but it seems that faster absorption is possible as the body adjusts to the higher doses. Is that how you'd put it? As long as there's no laxative effect, can I assume that most of it is being put to good use?

    2.  This should be #1!   Every good thing comes from the Father and I thank Him for helping me, even though I did not ask Him about this issue in specific prayer.  Suffering is a great blessing after all, right?  I presume He now wants me to serve Him more actively with my renewed health, and He's thrown 2 projects in my path that I could not have done had I still been in pain.

    That's very inspiring! Congratulations!

Many blessings to the good people of Cathinfo.  You are all very special, and I don't mean in the little yellow school bus kinda way!   :dancing-banana:
    Well, maybe a few...

In this case it would be good not to be one of the few ...
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?

    PED, What is bulletproof coffee?

I'm sorry for the delay Nadir.
    The coffee saga   :alcohol:
I'm new to coffee, maybe 2 years drinking it at most.  The occasional cup always tasted stale and bitter - even and especially Starbucks.  Then I had coffee made in a french press and it was very good.  So I bought one, and a hand grinder for the freshest taste.  For me, S American beans taste the best, esp from Peru.  If I don't mail order the beans, I have a hard time finding good ones at affordable price.  In my search I found info re bulletproof coffee, which at first I thought was just a gimmick.  But I looked into it A LOT.  All claims of mental acuity enhancement seems to be true - not just a caffeine high, but a slight sharpening and energy that for me lasts the day.

Abridged from the Bulletproof Executive website, with my editorial commentary in blue.    The ratio is 2 cups coffee,/2 tablespoons of raw or organic butter/ 2 tablespoons of MCT oil (initially I used coconut oil.  This option is popular).

5 Steps To Bulletproof Your Coffee

#1 Make coffee: Brew coffee as you normally would.  Use a brown paper filter. I use a french press.

#2 Pre-heat blender: Boil extra water and pour it into a blender while your coffee brews to pre-heat the blender.   I don't do this.  I have a  ceramic pitcher that I put the ingredients in, and I use an immersion blender.

#3 Froth: Empty hot water from the now pre-heated  blender and add the brewed coffee, butter, and MCT oil.  Blend  until there is a thick layer of foam on top like a latte. A Blend-tec or Vitamix blender will do it quickly, a normal countertop blender takes longer, and a handblender works ok if you don’t have a real blender.

#4  (optional) Add cinnamon, vanilla, dark chocolate,   All of these are deliciious additives.  I put 'true' cinnamon in the cup before I pour and mix up.  Also, I use raw honey as a sweetener.

Thank you for answering my question PED. I've been away and missed it.

To tell the truth, I am now more confused than ever because there are so many expressions words in your post that I don't know the meaning of. Still don't know what bulletproof coffee means. It sounds all so complicated when a good coffee should be so simple.

I do know that I found it well nigh impossible to get a good coffee in America. What one culture calls coffee is not necessarily what another culture means by coffee. Just observe the Italians!

Also there is just so much (and increasing) variety in ways of brewing coffee.
Our method is like this: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/kitchen-appliances/coffee-beverage/coffee-machines/sunbeam-cafe-crema-espresso-coffee-machine.html

The trick with bitter coffee is not to allow water to go through the grains after the "black" is gone and the water starts to run clear. Once the flavour (black) has come into the cup, then the bitterness comes. If you want a weaker coffee you should add the water to the cup but not via the coffee grounds.
