Protection against neurodegeneration with low-dose methylene blue and near-infrared light
    "]F Gonzalez-Lima 1,*, "]Allison Auchter 1

    PMCID: PMC4428125  PMID: 26029050

Neurons are metabolically protected against degeneration using low-level methylene blue and near-infrared light interventions. Both of these novel interventions act by a cellular mechanism involving enhancement of the electron transport chain in mitochondria, which promotes energy metabolism and neuronal survival (Gonzalez-Lima et al., 2014). Methylene blue preferentially enters neuronal mitochondria after systemic administration, and at low-doses forms an electron cycling redox complex that donates electrons to the mitochondrial electron transport chain. Low-level near-infrared light applied transcranially delivers photons to cortical neurons that are accepted by cytochrome oxidase, which causes increased cell respiration and cerebral blood flow. Breakthrough in vivo studies with these interventions suggest that targeting mitochondrial respiration may be beneficial for protection against different types of neurodegenerative disorders.

  • Have you tried MB before? I was taking the troscriptions troches for a short period and had various successes with it but also a handful of bad experiences. You should never dose it too low because it has the opposite intended effect. I thought it would be practical to take a low dose because it is sort of expensive and why not ration it but it apparently makes it difficult for your brain to receive the right amount of oxygen when you take too low of an amount.

Also studies show to not to eat dried meats like salami while on it because of a chemical interaction it has with Tyramine- which is prevalent within Salami, a meat I had plenty access to while I was on MB. I would get confused, irritable, and sluggish. Opposite effect of what I wanted!

When it did work fine it helped regulate my mood and boost creativity though.

Yes. Before I tried it I was unable to walk due to multiple hip and spine issues leading to severe pain. I was totally disabled and only left home to go to Mass or Dr. appointment, for which one of my doctors ordered a wheelchair. I was scheduled for another steroid injection when, while praying, I suddenly thought of Methylane Blue. After much research, I tried 1 drop of 3%. This may sound like a late-night infommercial, but that day I was full of energy and began deep-cleaning our home which had been sadly neglected due to my deteriorating health. I still get pain but it is tolerable now. I am able to function when previously I could not. Thank you Lord!
