Title: Meat Loaf dies at 74
Post by: SimpleMan on January 21, 2022, 10:33:50 AM
...supposedly from COVID complications.

Along with Betty White and Bob Saget, I'm reminded of the "they die in threes" observation.  Betty White's death at 99, well, that was a foregone conclusion, but still...

Whatever your musical tastes, you have to admit, the man had one fine, big, huge voice.

Tremendous voice, unfortunately used for degenerate music

Yikes, blood cancer. Not fun at all. I remember enjoying his cartoon from the 90s "Life with Louie"

I just remember his one song from the 90's "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that"

from his album (check out this title): "Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell"

They played that song on the "Top 40" pop station on the radio several times a day, every day. I think this would have been the time period when I was forced to listen to the radio all day at one of my jobs. I was a minimum wage peon; I had no say in the matter.

Back in the day, (early 80's) I saw him in concert. Bat out of Hell tour. He had a great live show. Very theatrical. He kind of made a living for life off of one album. Materially, not a bad deal.
Sorry to hear he died. Hope he converted in the end.

I never liked his voice. Never understood why he had so many accolades.
Now, if you're going to make a thread about worldlings and their voices, the real awesome voices of worldling singers are the late Chris Cornell and Layne Staley; and the current Matt Barlow (he's not that much of a worldling, for his music touched on Biblical/apocalyptic subjects and themes when he was with Iced Earth).

And nobody can surpass Ronnie Van Zant and Robert Plant.

Funny guy.

Very fast and very sudden. People who knew details said that he was about to die this whole time.

And apparently Meat Loaf died of Covid. Seeing his age, not surprising, unfortunately.

Truth. Layne and Chris were something special, shame they both went out in such horrible ways.

Indeed.

Do you think Chris was "ѕυιcιdєd"? If he did kill himself, I think it was the psych "meds" that made him go over the edge and do it. He loved his children too much to kill himself with a mind unaltered by Big Pharma.

Charlie Daniels, Johnny Cash, Phil Anselmo, Rob Halford (unfortunately, a pervert against nature) and Bruce Dickinson destroy him. :-)

Phil Anselmo was outstanding in his early days, then he kind of destroyed his voice through heroin and drug abuse. Bruce Dickinson though, just wow. Talk about a banshee cry, especially on "Hallowed Be Thy Name" and "Fear of the Dark". And he's still got it to this day if you listen to their most recent album.
