  • I am pretty anal about nontoxic toys and foods. My son is teething and I did a bunch of research and found a nontoxic organic cotton teething toy made in America. I ordered it from Amazon and it never said the retailer (or maybe I didn't notice) was in Japan.

I am not a expert in radiation. I hear all about the radioactive fish and things. Would you give it to your baby? Maybe I am overreacting. Anyone have an expertise with the radiation?

  • I'm a little uneasy about eating Japanese food products. even though most Japanese companies are required to check their exports for radiation.

One recent report from Leuren Moret stated that the Fukushima melt-down was equivalent to the radiation released from 300 Chernobyls.

It would be a good idea to buy a radiation emission detector, especially for the future.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

You might want to use a different word here. Try paranoid or something. This is in such bad taste, especially for a traditional Catholic woman on a traditional forum.

I wasn't asking you to subscribe to Freudian psychology. I was referencing a trait that I process of anal retentiveness. It is commonly abbreviated as anal, even in the dictionary.   I was asking for help. I am sorry that my word choice offended you. I can't believe how some people take a post out of context and go completely off the subject just to criticize you.

  • I'm sorry. That was not my intention. To try to "find something wrong" with what you were saying. I genuinely care about what you're asking, however, to use such an unflattering terminology is just kind of an unspoken thing-- politeness, I guess.

  • I am sorry I misread your intention. It never occurred to me that someone would find the reference rude but I will definitely be aware of it in the future.

  • This might help you get a good idea of what doses you get from everyday life radiation.

  • Julie, I've been closely following the Fukushima disaster and it's continued effects very closely from the beginning.  With a peripherally related background, I used to naively be pro nuke power.
Shortly after moving to Chile - a mere 8 mos after Fukushima - I remember a news story here that Chilean authorities turned away a ship full of automobiles from Japan due to high radiation levels -  didn't even let the ship come into port.  I believe Russia and Australia were also testing shipments from Japan and turning them away.  I began investigating a bit and saw reports that Japan was shipping food and other products without testing for radiation (as they promised they would do), and secondary black markets were purchasing cheaply from Japan, then repackaging and reselling as "Made in ____",
To this day, TEPCO and even our EPA continually assure everyone that all is ok, despite some serious ongoing radiation emissions. We all interpret that if it's not discussed in the MSM, it's not important/dangerous/critical.  It's all so diabolical.

I would be more than cautious with anything purchased for your precious child, especially from Japan.  Incredulous' recommendation to purchase a radiation detector may sound extreme, but is actually excellent advice.  There is a growing number of people who use them.
Go to Natural News and search Fukushima for a host of articles and sources.  Perhaps find a related forum to discuss with other parents?

Of course, do your own due diligence.  And above all, ask the Holy Ghost for guidance.

So was I for many months, but I gave it up to God finally.(Many years ago I was an anti-nuke activist of sorts.)   For the Fukushima catastrophe I  completed a large oil painting, offered as a prayer, sold it, and can only hope that Almighty God will spare us "fire from the sky" if we live as the 6 jesuit priests who survived Hiroshima ground zero did--that is according to Our Lady of Fatima's requests.

So, how is life in Chile?

If you know anything about Monsanto, you might be able to see why they're afraid of letting GMO wheat that is 'patented' into their country.

They pretend that Fukushima is not happening, that it was no problem.  Radiation poisoning is a social stigma in Japan.

Japan would not accept our help after the gigantic, terrible  EQ and firestorm of (I think) 1918.  In fact they blamed their misfortune on dealings with non Shinto/Westerners.  The more I looked into their culture to create my painting, began to understand why my Grandfather despised them even more than the nαzιs.

There still appear to be powerful Japanese people who believe they are literal descendants of gods.
