Julie, I've been closely following the Fukushima disaster and it's continued effects very closely from the beginning. With a peripherally related background, I used to naively be pro nuke power.
Shortly after moving to Chile - a mere 8 mos after Fukushima - I remember a news story here that Chilean authorities turned away a ship full of automobiles from Japan due to high radiation levels - didn't even let the ship come into port. I believe Russia and Australia were also testing shipments from Japan and turning them away. I began investigating a bit and saw reports that Japan was shipping food and other products without testing for radiation (as they promised they would do), and secondary black markets were purchasing cheaply from Japan, then repackaging and reselling as "Made in ____",
To this day, TEPCO and even our EPA continually assure everyone that all is ok, despite some serious ongoing radiation emissions. We all interpret that if it's not discussed in the MSM, it's not important/dangerous/critical. It's all so diabolical.
I would be more than cautious with anything purchased for your precious child, especially from Japan. Incredulous' recommendation to purchase a radiation detector may sound extreme, but is actually excellent advice. There is a growing number of people who use them.
Go to Natural News and search Fukushima for a host of articles and sources. Perhaps find a related forum to discuss with other parents?
Of course, do your own due diligence. And above all, ask the Holy Ghost for guidance.
