True the prices of chicken is going up. I bought 3 whole chickens, organic, from sprouts 2 weeks ago, on clearance for $1.59 a lb. I grabbed all 3! Some shoppers do not check prices. For example: Shoppers pick chickens they know will have the lowest price and will not look at organics. The butcher knows this, and these meats can go to expiration date. So, they put maybe a 30% off the price sticker on them, which is still a high price to pay. BUT my butcher knows, the meat will end up thrown away and he can not stand that. So, he will put a new tag over the other at $1.99 a lb and 30% off! He says he can do it, because corporate said ok, knowing they will get something and no lose. AH! Very few butchers do this, but you might give it a talk to a favorite butcher. You look better on record to sell your meat, then to throw it out. This butcher is not of Sprouts, another store. Sometimes corporate will say yes to this, and then a change of person can go back to throwing meat out, a back and forth episode.
