+18°F on the thermometer in my classroom window.  Not bad at all compared with last night in Raquette Lake, NY where it was -29°F at 1:00am.  That was the actual temperature, not the wind chill.  Call me crazy, but I like it!  Wear layers of wool, install a good engine block heater, and you're ready to go!
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • 17 AND DROPPING.
Frozen Pipes, Icicles on the window, no running water to the kitchen sink.
Nevertheless, bean soup, hot cocoa, perfecting cookie recipes for next Christmas, and the girls are learning new ways to braid their hair.

  • This whole thing is very strange indeed.  For some reason, it seems to get cold in the Northern Hemisphere every year for a few months right around the winter solstice.  It's just crazy.  No one can explain this bizarre occurrence.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this except that it seems to happen every single year.  Sometimes it's colder than other times and sometimes there is more snow.

Clearly, the government needs to pass more taxes and control more of the economy in order to correct this aberration.

  • RC1953, I see you spilled some flour on your roof. A broom will take that right off.

     :laugh2:

I wish we could get that much snow!
