  • A nice dry rose, like those from Provence, is the ideal summertime wine.  When I lived in Florida, it was my go-to for the boat, beach, sipping on the porch, etc.

The alcohol is lower than many other wines, they are light, crisp, refreshing, widely-available and reasonably priced.  You can find them at your grocery store for $10-12/15.  Some good examples below, although you can often find the same bottles for less near your home.

    French Rose, c'est magnifique!

  • Another rosé for which we used to pay <$20/bottle, now inflated:

…and the Bandol (mostly mourvedre) reds are untouchable, >$100/bottle.

I just can't see drinking rosé while tuna fishing. Tuna fishing definitely calls for… beer, specifically Modelo Negro.

  • Domaine Tempier is a standard-bearer in Bandol, so it'll never be representative of the average price.  I had a lovely Bandol rose last week for $27, which isn't bad.

I also had a delicious rose from Raul Perez (Spain) for $22.  Reminded me a lot of a rose from Tavel, a place some think the home of the very best rose.
