  • I'm going to start the sugar diet (sugar fasting) this Wednesday for 3-4 days at a clip and see how it goes. It's important to skip all starches as well as proteins and fats if you are going for a more intense weight loss upfront. So I will be eating (organic) sugar, fruit juices, all fruits, including bananas, non- starchy vegetables with soy sauce and any other sauces without fat. Once you lose enough weight and see how your body reacts you can add in rice and pastas as tolerated. Even during intense sugar fasting it is good to eat lean protein twice a week, but it will slow down weight loss. ( or so I have heard)
I am a type ll diabetic so I will be monitoring closely. If I can lose the weight I want I know I can kick myself out of the diabetic blood sugar range completely. I have about 30 lbs to lose
Honestly carnivore is super based to lose weight. I couldn't keep up with the diet because I was losing more weight than I can afford to. Have started eating fruits again to gain more weight but if you seriously wanna lose weight just do carnivore. Plus it gives you great mental clarity!
O Lord, save us, we are perishing. (Matthew 8:25)

  • Working on getting to OMAD, I typically don't eat meal 1 till very late am/early pm, not hard to do that so will eventually get to OMAD

Understand where you're coming from but it does matter what you eat, if your OMAD was processed junk/heavy carb/refined sugar, that would defeat the purpose from a health standpoint...no such thing as an essential carb whereas there is such a thing as essential fats, just something to keep in mind.

Agreed! I'm Italian, and we really are food snobs. I cook everything I eat, which includes pasta, bread, and natural sugars. I have found over time that restricting entire food groups creates stress, anxiety, obsession, and lots of work. I love to cook. It relaxes me. The elimination of stress and obsession about food lends itself to overall health, methinks.

Regarding Italian food snobs, I have an 88 year old bachelor uncle who still cooks himself supper every single night! LOL!!

I too am Italian and raised on that cuisine, as I'm in my 60's now, I rarely eat that wonderful tasting food anymore though the temptations too set in from time to time

  • Nobody else has said it, so I will… the lady in the video does not look very skinny… I thought the whole point of this diet was to lose fat and be lean and slim. Is it just her immodest outfit?
There are many guys on YouTube on the Sugar fast that are  super ripped with below 10% body fat but their language is atrocious so I won’t post them here . Woman  as usual have a harder time with weight loss because of  hormones , fat distribution , metabolism menopause , etc . If I get half the results stated I will consider it a success

Immodest, yes..but if you don't think she is "slim", I don't know what to tell you :smirk:

I did keto and then carnivore for years - I just stalled out after 10 lb loss . The mental clarity is real . I just need to try something different ( and less expensive) I was buying grass fed and no lunch meat or cheap processed meat so it was pretty pricey.

Hey Paisano!! The nice thing about Italian food, is that it lends itself quite well to keto. Soups, stews, meat and veg, eggs. But, all in all, it's just a lot of work to maneuver around bread and pasta. I tried carnivore, and my Italian girl mind just couldn't handle how boring it was! LOL!!!!

BTW, I don't know what your schedule looks like, but I have found the omad sweet spot is to eat the one meal anywhere from eleven to two in the afternoon. Works very well for me. You just never die of hunger. Today I made a minestrone soup, and added some keystone canned beef in my bowl to get more protein. With pasta and loads of Romano, it was really tasty!

  • I’m not Italian but I love Italian food!!  If you all haven’t heard of Miracle Noodle, it’s a low carb pasta, very, very good (for those of you on the low carb diet).  I get it at Walmart.  Now where’s that emoji with the fork and knife pounding on the table :laugh2:?

Yes!!! I lost only 6 pounds on keto. I'm a female in her sixties, and that parameter is just not going to get melting pounds, no matter how few carbs you eat. Do let us know how your sugar hack turns out!

I was reading all about Therese Neumann today. She survived on the Eucharist for, I think, 17 years. No food and no drink. And all the soldiers described her as plump!

Also Daniel, Azarias, Ananias, and Misael were plump and healthy eating only pulse. Then again you have St. Mary of Egypt and many of the Desert Fathers, who looked pretty emaciated.

One thing is certain. There is so much division and contradiction in the metabolic-hack space, that it must be that "an enemy hath done this."

Yes! I tried it! Made from some kind of root, right? I have to admit that my Italian mind had a hard time with it. I found that putting raw shredded zucchini in my soup bowl, and mixing scrambled eggs into all my soups, made skipping the pasta pretty tasty.

If you gain or are not losing weight on the carnivore diet, it is usually because the body is healing.  The body wants to heal, most people just want to lose weight.  But what is more important?
Grass fed hamburger patties at Costco only cost @ $5.79 per pound, and are very affordable, and nutritious.  Also a lot of this discussion is about either losing weight, or being attached to the taste of certain foods.  Carnivore is a very "detached from the world" kind of eating that frees our attention from food, so that we can focus on God and other things.
