  • I also have sensitive teeth, and avoid pop mostly for that reason.

    And with every passing day, I'm actually starting to dislike HFCS for how it makes me feel -- it doesn't give me a sugar rush like kool-aid (which is made with sugar) or fruit juice.

    When I consume HFCS, it's like I get the "crash" without getting the "rush" that's supposed to precede it. Why bother?

    I do like sugar though, and it doesn't bother my health since I burn it all off, even now when I'm in my thirties. I lead an active lifestyle -- when I'm not programming or posting on CathInfo  :wink:

  • Hey everyone, Great postings on a pretty serious topic. Carbonation in soda goes through the blood and it acts as a leach of sorts to the minerals in the bone, which was pointed out in an earlier post. Oddly enough with all the evidence about how bad soda is I still cant quit it. I can go days and weeks without it and not miss it but when I crave it, it might as well be a cocane addict I get right moody and physically turn into a mess. I never was a smoker or a drinker and I have been able to lose over 50 pounds 7 years ago and I kept that off but ultimately I can not run during a day without some form of sugar carbs. I can get the majority of that from wholesome fruits but with the carb-less diets I dont last 2 hours. Recently I asked myself why? Well for starters  I am a single mom who starts her day running and ends it that way most days too. Why would I want to deprive my body of the very energy it needs to succeed all it does in a day. Short end of it I simply watch to not overconsume soda, but please try to understand your body and its job. You will appreciate it for it does, afterall God himself formed us in His image.

  • Please please please avoid artificial sweetners, they chemically "neuter" your metabolism and cause you to crave more sugar since your body was deprived of it from your "fake" sugar. There are all kinds of studys out there to tell you more if you search. remember to eat as wholesome as possible since God Himself created all natural foods. When you eat an apple you are recieving a whole lot more goodness than we have knowledge about yet.
