  • My wife made spaghetti last night. She's a Filipina, so of course it had hot dogs in it. :scratchchin: It was good as always, though.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • Charlemagne I laughed out loud!

Is it just me, or are others as oddly curious about what Poche is eating each night?

This may be a little off topic, but I have a friend that uses chicken/beef powder to give flavor to "meatless" meals during lent. She figures there is not enough meat in it to count, but I disagree. Any comments?

    Wouldn't that constitute cheating?

They use it on Fridays too. I think it is a serious sin but how do you go about reminding them without coming across as "holier than thou?"

Find a copy of the fasting laws and give it to them. Sometimes in moral q & a type books these questions come up, too. If you can find one that is close, pass it along.

  • Church bulletins would be an excellent venue to remind the faithful re; Friday fast, ember days, Lenten fasting, with the guidelines noted and some scriptural quotes for inspiration.  Many of the faithful at traditional chapels are uninformed and need this catachesis.  Some bulletins do take advantage of this opportunity, and other means of simple instruction/reminders.

Back to the topic:   tonight, chicken legs, sauteed w/mushrooms and spagetti sauce, pasta, steamed broccoli.

But what is Poche having tonight?   :dancing:

St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

I consider it a look into another world.

We had Italian wedding soup tonight, it was wonderful.

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

You might say it once but then be silent. St John of the Cross said that silence is sometimes a gateway to greater holiness. Prudence is the mother of all the virtues. Sometimes it is better to speak out and sometimes it is better to keep quiet. True wisdom is to when is when.
