If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • This may be a little off topic, but I have a friend that uses chicken/beef powder to give flavor to "meatless" meals during lent. She figures there is not enough meat in it to count, but I disagree. Any comments?

If it contains any dehydrated broth it should not be used, if it is artificial--containing no meat product at all, then it would be fine. You are correct.

  • Well, we were going to have Italian wedding soup but the ground chicken I pulled out is not thawed. I thought it would thaw too fast overnight because it is somewhat loosely packed. Nope. We might have to get some take out. So, it looks like fried chicken, maybe.

    Wouldn't that constitute cheating?

They use it on Fridays too. I think it is a serious sin but how do you go about reminding them without coming across as "holier than thou?"
