Apparently this is the "what did Poche have for dinner last night?" thread, but since I busted my hump to fix dinner for my family (elderly parents) last night, here goes:
Spaghetti with meat sauce
Brown 1 lb (1/2 kg) of ground beef --- I couldn't get fresh ground beef from the store (I am shopping online and having them to bring the order out to the car), so I combined some cheap 73% lean from Walmart (all they had) that I'd previously frozen into patties, with some better-quality prime rib steakburger patties that were in the freezer for a cookout that didn't happen, drained off the fat from browning it.
Salt, pepper, MSG, and paprika to taste.
Cut up 1/2 onion and cook it with the beef.
Add most of a jar of Ragu chunky tomato, garlic, and onion sauce, and combine with a can of Tuttorosso tomato sauce.
Add a few splashes of Grace Jamaican hot sauce (the secret ingredient, mon!)
Cook for at least 30 minutes, longer if you can (we were under time constraints last night)
Store-brand thin spaghetti (couldn't get Mueller's) cooked in salty water --- I like it al dente but my mother asked for it to be cooked longer, she doesn't like al dente. (We're not Italian.)
Garlic bread, after a fashion --- Wonder hamburger buns, buttered with garlic salt, and put under the broiler until lightly toasted.
Solomon in all his glory never had such a meal.
That sauce will be liquid crack by the time its flavors have had time to mingle and synergize overnight, but I will be waiting until Saturday to enjoy the rest of it.
