  • Not to be too mean, BUT most of the food you eat really sounds unpalatable. Are you for real: “ tomato sauce sandwich”? What is that? An americanized pizza? Do you eat this stuff for a self induced penance? If so, I apologize.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

It took me a while to catch on to the fact that whatever else may be said about him, poche is a good deal more patient and perhaps more clever than those of us he drives to distraction. My current bet is that he never comes within a mile of most of the stuff he says he eats and that he offers these menus to his critics because he gets a kick out of raising their blood pressure. In other words, these unspeakable meals he claims to relish* are the stuff of an elaborate ongoing tease.

Sci-fi fans might recall an episode of the original Star Trek where the Enterprise's crew members encounter an alien life force that feeds off the anger and antagonism it stimulates in them. Kirk and Spock send it packing only when they succeed in persuading everyone to feel or at least feign cheeriness. Perhaps if everyone hereabouts makes a point of asking poche to share his recipes, he too will vanish into thin air!**

*Whether he eats relish, too, is anyone's guess.
**I look forward to getting the details of his recipe for doughnuts deep fried in lard and Crisco and drizzled with sauce suprême. I hear that he precedes it with a lovely bowl of cream of nowhere soup accompanied by several ice cream fritters.

  • My current bet is that [poche] never comes within a mile of most of the stuff he says he eats and that he offers these menus to his critics because he gets a kick out of raising their blood pressure.  In other words, these unspeakable meals he claims to relish* are the stuff of an elaborate ongoing tease.

I would be very interested to see the results of blood-chemistry tests (e.g., ‘basic metabolic panel’ []) for poche.  But if posted, it could be quite foolish to believe that they are really his results and really faithfully reported.

It took me a while to catch on to the fact that whatever else may be said about him, poche is a good deal more patient and perhaps more clever [....]

Is there any consensus on CathInfo that poche is more clever than the average laid-off coal-miner who's the target of typically unrealistic hopes [×] for employment in computing?  Well, then!  Let poche start an independent food blog[#] that allows comments from nonmember readers!  Then we'll see how his recipes for his special dishes, e.g., glazed doughnut-holes in a mustard-anchovy sauce served over blackened toast, go over with his readers.  Altho' I look forward even more to in-depth reporting of his feature-length adventures, e.g., confecting and taste-testing an authentic garum sauce.  Maybe there's a James Beard award waiting for just such a project.

    -------
    Note : A.k.a. ‘Chem-7’ and variations on ‘U&E’.  It quantifies, i.a., sodium and blood-sugar.  See, e.g., <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_metabolic_panel>.

Note ×: Cluelessly unrealistic hopes preached by a newsworthy Democrat candidate in 2020.

Note #: Altho' I can only offer a recommendation, my notion of "independent" includes a charitable abstinence by poche from continuing to waste resources via the "Re: Friday or not, whats your dinner?" topic on the servers in Matthew's bunker.

Exactly.  I've been saying this for some time.  Poche is a troll who is getting a kick out of yanking the chains of Traditional Catholics.  He really needed to be banned.  He refused to explain what his motivations were for posting here.  Matthew thinks that poche is sincere, but he's naive and being played.

Yes Claudel, I remember that episode well. Thinking about it, you are quite possibly right, but what kind of person lives his life doing such a thing? I kid around a-lot with my family and friends, but when it comes to religion, I’m fabulously sincere. This world is completely mad!

  • … what kind of person lives his life doing such a thing?

Better men than I have been as stumped by that question as you and I are, QvD.

… This world is completely mad!

    No argument there!
