    • The ember days in Advent--liturgical Winter--for 2019 are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday of this week: December 18, 20, 21.  Roman Catholics are traditionally obligated to fast & abstain on each of those 3 days, altho' only partial abstinence is obligated on the Wednesday and Saturday.[#]

    Well-catechized Catholic adults equipped with a simple calendar in 2019 should need no formal announcement, because it'll show them the fixed date that determines the movable dates for the Winter ember days.  That's December 13, always the Feast of St. Lucy (i.q. Lucia), which fell on Friday of last week.
