  • I was with my wife in process of doing IVF.
I did know that Church was against it, and searched for more information. At that time I was in Novus ordo, didn't know anything about Traditional Catholic movement and all else. I learned what they do, asked doctors and I decided not to do it even if I never had children in my life. Problem was with my health, everyone I knew was against me. Some time even my wife but God willing she realized evil truth about it and stood with me in this.
All good willed family members, conservative Novus ordo catholics, were trying to convice us that is good, and ultimately God decides, or whatever.
They knew someone else they know already did it, and it was good enough. Nevermind that even mainstream hierarchy was against it, just like in case of abortion.
They just go on Sunday mass, and believe according to their conscience, not according what the Church teaches.
So much double standards, I was revolted and thank God I didn't lose faith and become an atheist.
And God rewarded us with a beautiful little Laura, now 8 months old, after 8 years of our marriage.

All glory to one true God, Holy Trinity, Our Lady, and all the saints!

IVF is part of culture of death, like abortus and euthanasia. It also makes people believe that they are authors of life and death, and that one life justifies deaths of another. Life begins with conception, that means that all those discarded embrios are killed.

Yeah, and she is funny, real God's gift and blessing. I'm worried though raising up children in world like this, but I have faith and hope. We'll try to do our best, sadly my wife is not a trad Catholic, she has feminist spirit to a lesser degree. Nobody is perfect, we can't do nothing good without Jesus Christ.

Similar situation for us. Due to my wife's severe endometriosis, doctor advised us to seek out IVF treatments.  We went to an initial consultation, looked at what it involved, and both of us came the conclusion that we weren't going any further. So glad we made that decision.

  • Bonaventure, have you heard of Naprotechnolgy. It may be of some help. Here is an article I just found

An Ethical Comparison between In-Vitro Fertilization and NaProTechnology

  • Yes, we were aware of NaPro, and in fact tried it (only after being told about it by a traditional priest).  However, this did not result in pregnancy.  Due to the severity of my wife's endometriosis, not only were both of her ovaries crushed with endo (one having had to be removed via surgery), but her fallopian tubes were mangled into what looked like spaghetti (doctor's description).  So, even if her partially functioning remaining ovary we able to ovulate, the chances of an egg traveling to where it needed to be to get fertilized were quite slim.
