Yes, it's all about brownie points!

Maria, you left out anti-coagulants. Shame on you!

Medical schools are funded by the pharmaceutical companies, so doctors learn what to prescribe. They look more at the computer than the patient and hardly ever examine the patoent or know the right questions to ask

Yes, my doctor is constantly looking for scripts to prescribe when I really do not have any symptoms. He carries his tablet everywhere and is lost without it. It is ridiculous.

Obamacare is a license to prescribe drugs.

My doctor agrees with me that as long as everyone else gets a flu shot, we don't need to get one.

Getting a flu shot is "the same" as not getting a flu shot… in Stubbornville.

Thank you everyone for your answers!

It is good to know that others have had the same experience.  I'm sure they get some type of bonus the more things they prescribe and the more shots they give.

We've had the same experience with statins.  My husband won't take them, and I refused as well.  Luckily, the last cardiologist my husband went to told him to take fish oil 1000 mg capsules instead.  But this cardiologist was much older.

I have found that the younger doctors and nurses are the most indoctrinated.  The ARNP nurse we had yesterday seemed to take it quite personally when I said we weren't interested in his flu shot.  The way he shot back an accusatory "Why not?!!??!!!" took me by surprise.

Since my husband took sick three years ago, I have learned a lot about doctors and nurses and hospitals and the medical profession and trust very few of them.  It's a money making racket, and the health care profession is turning into assembly line type health care.
