  • I'm becoming quite a fan of a good beer.  What are some of the beers from smaller brewers that you like?  I see an amazing array at the store and hate to buy a six pack of each so would like to read some reviews

I like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale although spicy food will overpower it.  I don't like IPAs or Guinness.

We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

You mean beer-judge style reviews discussing nose and trace flavors?  Or do you mean just brief nontechnical expressions of enthusiasm or approval?

Of course there are.  How could traditional Catholics abandon an ancient beverage that sustained monasteries in the many centuries during which drinking water was dangerous to human health?

In fact, not long ago, there was a poll-style
    • topic "Favorite type of beer?" in this very same subforum.   It began in May 2012, and its last reply was in August 2013.  As of this morning (EDT), it's still accessible.

      -------
Note *: Oddly for a subject that's characterized by a broad  diversity  range of styles, the poll offered no (explicit) "other" choice (I suppose it's possible that the original poster encountered some unexpected technical limitations while creating the poll).

  • AD - I'm just looking for personal recommendations, what brands do folks like, not a technical discussion of beer.

I expected dozens of responses as I too assumed TCs would be beer drinkers.

Maybe I should revise the thread to "Favorite Adult Beverages"

  • I wanted to try Franciscan beer in Ardara Ireland.
It must be really good because they ran out of it.
May God bless you and keep you

  • I was introduced to a family operated "craft" beer known as Freak'n at www.FreakNBrew.com.  It is in my locality and I am going to ask my husband to go here to sample their beers.  They have one with orange, the light beers.  That should be fun.

Love the Belgium bars in France's Cities when I visit my mates over there (for greatest choices).

It costs £5 (US$8.56) for a small bottle/half pint in my UK city belgium bar  for imported trappist/white beer etc
They don't even have some favorites like lemon/rasberry flavour on draught either!

    Cheaper to fly to France.

Do I have any custom obligations?

The answer is very simple : No, you haven't. All our prices include Belgian VAT and Belgian excise duties. If you order at our store, you pay these taxes, since they are included in our prices. Later on DPD will deliver your beers at your doorstep and that's it.

    5 Euros delivered to UK!

But I DO like Guinness.  Guinness EXTRA STOUT, that is.

(Guinness Draft, in the bottles, is a joke, not even in the ballpark.)

There is a restaurant chain called Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Co., where you can get an 8-beer sampler, with 8 small glasses of different micro brewery beers, about 3 oz. each.  So that's 24 oz. of beer.  And it's actually cheaper than two 12 oz. singles (about $9).  So you can try them all.  One is usually a lot like Guinness, though, so beware.  I kind of wish they were ALL like Guinness!!

Guinness Extra Stout & Jägermeister chaser.

Bailey's Irish Cream on the rocks.

Vodka and orange juice, preferably Stolichnaya vodka and fresh squeezed OJ over crushed ice.  Most bars can't deliver the FSOJ.  There are a lot fancier (and more expensive!) vodkas, the quality of which is recognizable when served straight, below freezing a few degrees (most bars can't deliver the 'proper' temperature), but when mixed with OJ you don't notice the difference that much, so Stoli I think is a solid standard, because it's reliably smooth.

Obviously, when mixed the Vodka can't be below freezing.

Surprisingly, a nice, readily available beer (in the USA, anyway) is Coors, especially ice cold on a hot day.
    Rocky Mountain Spring water!

    .

Yes, Coors Original. I like it. I drink it more than any other beer. It is my favorite inexpensive beer.
