It improves the body metabolism and increases blood circulation. ayurveda yoga  combination has appealed too many. There are many tourists who visit India to experiment Yoga and Ayurveda. They learn and practise Yoga to add it as an integral part of their routine. Many people practise Yoga within their busy schedules. Yoga is ideal to relieve stress and an increasing number of persons are including it as a part of their routine. Yoga has already become an integral part of urban life. Many people learn and practise Yoga. Yoga is also widely propagated. There are many Yoga instructors training persons in Yoga so that they can include it in their routines. There are many asanaas or postures in Yogic practise. Yoga can improve breathing and sleep disturbances. Regular Yoga practise increases the energy level and can prevent sleep disturbances. Both Yoga and Ayurveda are based on holistic approach, they rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. Tourists are inculcating a habit of Yoga and Ayurveda for wellness. • I hope you are not advocating yoga for any Catholics here. It is a practice of a pagan religion:

Any meditation performed during yoga may possibly invite demonic activity. The exercises alone are preparation for the meditations. There are enough other exercises a person can perform that help with one's health and are spiritually safe.

     :applause:

Maybe yoga TYPE stretches with no intention of anything but limbering up and relieving stress are OK, and some of the cures for ailments are OK, but they would never compare with a nice long walk with the Rosary.

These pagan healing and wellness practices always seek to avoid suffering and sacrifice.  They are always man-centered rather than Christ centered.  And the meditations must be avoided like the demonic portals they are.

    Great post.

Why not just do some plain old stretching? Touch the toes, reach up, bend side to side, swivel the hips, etc. Do some deep breathing. No need for expensive instructional books, mats and special clothing, or classes tinged with false Hindu and New Age ideas.

  • I have an arthritic hip from a decades-old fall.

I have a bad curvature in my spine that makes proper posture nearly impossible.

I might have a sciatic nerve or damaged vertebrae.

I have several (including one sizable) abdominal hernias.

Walking for more than a few yards at a time becomes very painful.

Standing for longer than a few minutes at a time does as well.

There are some circuмstances surrounding these issues that can be helped, but most of these issues are chronic or nearly so.

All that said, I was spending some time at a Marian shrine recently, and was walking the Rosary Garden while praying the entire Rosary.

I spent nearly an hour and a half on my feet, and while I could certainly feel slight discomforts here and there, and while I was most certainly intentionally offering what pain I DID have to Our Lord for offenses against God and insults to Our Lady, I was by and large TOTALLY able to walk and stand for nearly 90 minutes while praying.

I then walked about a half a mile back to the parking lot, up a hill, singing hymns.

Yoga, shmoga. Leave the heathenish gyrations to the pagans and their false gods.

Fast and pray and you'll do better for your body and soul than any diet or exercise regimen could do for you.

What do people think St. Paul meant when he said, "...I buffet my body and make it my slave..."? Do they think he was doing a Richard Simmons routine? Maybe the South Beach Diet?

St. Francis called his body "Brother Ass". Like any other ass, it needed to be fed, walked and watered, but it also needed a good kick in its namesake, sometimes daily, in order that the proper lessons and obedience would be learned.

Holy saints who have modeled mortification and penance, pray for us.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar

Please do not proselytize on a Catholic forum on behalf of a pagan practice that delivers preternatural physical benefits at the cost of demonic ruin of souls.

  •  :surprised:Stay away from this "eastern" stuff.  If you need exercise that is easy on the body, aids in stress relief and increases flexibility, try a whirlpool or swimming.  As an eighth grader, a teacher was "into" TM, and taught it to us for use to relax before exams.  We got a "mantra" and the whole bit.  A girl was attacked by a demon and was taken out in restraints on a stretcher.  There is no other explanation for her instant change into a raging monster.  She chewed the collar off her blouse and exhibited supernatural strength.  Everyone who witnessed the incident was told she'd taken cocaine and to not mention it "for Mara's sake.". But that was the abrupt end to doing TM in school.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.
