It had not occurred to me before that the "vaping crisis" might just have been severe COVID.  I do remember that the media also noted that there were some people who had that problem but weren't vapers but they thought that, perhaps, it was "2nd hand vaping" that infrected them.

Interesting.

I believe I had Covid in April of 2019.  I had the “classic” symptoms and ended up in the hospital on O2 via mask.  At the time, I was living in Queens, NY in a community and building peopled primarily by Chinese nationals.  Lots of people were getting sick and it was assumed to be the flu.  I got tested for flu and it came up negative.  My lung x-rays showed the crushed glass look, and I was questioned repeatedly whether I vaped, specifically, vaped marijuana.  Was I exposed to someone who vaped?  No, and no.  For my diagnosis, they said “par-influenza,” meaning a flu like virus of unknown variety.

In December of 2020 and coming into the New Year, I also believe I had it. It came into the US via New York City, and my mother came back from the Dominican Republic to visit our family around that time.

Do you know what happens every December like clockwork? Many Dominicans in New York go back to the motherland for an extended period of time, usually between Christmas and New Year's. I was born in the area, still have many relatives in the area, I have done this exact same thing.

I came back from the airport to pick her up on the first week of the year, came down with the symptoms and that was rough. It's probably the sickest I've ever been.

Good luck with that.

Yes- I remember that they were saying that the ground glass lung syndrome was from the marijuana vape products only- lol ( I think because it was still an illegal product and "unregulated"- whatever that means)
