Does anyone here work out (or generally exercise)?

I just benched 275 lbs.  I've got about three months to reach my goal of exceeding 300 lbs, which will be a maximum.

What is a good workout for those of us who want to become very strong - not necessarily "ripped".

I want to get a lot of strength in the arms and legs and am contemplating taking up some practical martial art (recommendations?).

My only experience with working out is running and pushups. I am a bad runner and can only run a 8 minute mile without stopping and even that is very hard for me.

I can do a maximum of 150 pushups in a row (yes they are correct form), however, that was several months ago and I think right now I can do maybe 100.

I don't want to have to spend a lot of money, so preferably something that doesn't require much equipment.

I also have a weak back because of my irregular spinal curvature.

Ah, I also have spinal curvature. Can't do bench pressing or anything.

It sounds like you're in good shape.

Well, you might want to talk to a doctor.  Don't be afraid of working out.  Just be very careful and steady.  Lift heavy weights once you learn the motions.

Push-ups and bench press are basically the same thing. I just do a few PU's for general toning because MO is that it's not that important of an excercise.

I have dumbbells and a slant board/ bench. Also a head harness to drag a 25 lb up my chest to work the neck. That really works wonders. I also have a back device and The Rack by Drollinger to do dips.

A trial membership in a gym will generally have a few lessons included.
