  • As of now I am attending a school in a rural area and I don't have a car so I spend most of my time outside of class in my dorm room. I've realized that I get dehydrated when stay there for quite a bit. I drink more water but it doesn't seem to help as I still feel dry mouth.
I recant many opinions on the crisis in the Church and moral theology that I have espoused on here from at least 2019-2021 don't take my postings from that time as well as 2022 possibly too seriously.

Does your dorm room have forced air heating?

I don't know for sure but my dorm has been warmer than what the thermostat shows.

  • Air conditioning is very dehydrating.
Do you have your own food supply or is it provided? Is it heavily salted?
Why don’t you find another place to spent your time, in fresh air for example. It doesn’t seem healthy to be inside so much.

  • Could also be the environment (dusty or desert areas) or possibly your new diet is not working out for you.  If you're sweating a lot you will also get dehydrated and need to replenish more.  Being dehydrated does not always equal "need more water" (usually that IS the case though) and could be lack of certain minerals as well.  It could possibly be some underlying health issue but since you're still fairly young it's probably not that.  Just throwing some possibilities at you.  I hope you stay replenished either way.

  • Lower thermostat.  Also, open window for maybe an hour to get fresh air.

May God bless you and keep you

  • Drink an electrolyte supplement drink, like Gatorade, when you think you're dehydrated and it should help.   You need the salts just as much as the water to avoid dehydration.  Just don't drink too much Gatorade, too much can cause other problems.  One bottle should do the trick.

  • Dry mouth is not a good indication of dehydration. That can be caused by other things including the HVAC system, in combination with the naturally decreased humidity of cold winter temps. I personally often prefer outside humidity and fresh air over the surprisingly unfresh and low humidity inside air. Sugar free gum or hard candy should help. A hard candy can last a long time if you arent actively trying to work it smaller.

For judging dehydration, pay attention to urine color and frequency. Overhydration would make you go 2-3 times per hour, and it would be clear as water if you haven't taken any vitamins. It's not quite a harmful amount of hydration, so you might try to reach that point, and back off from there.

Good advice. I took some cups from the cafeteria and filled them with powerade from the drink machine.
