    • Ooft. I've always been one to be careful with a knife ever since an acquaintance of mine's aunt accidentally stabbed herself through her hand and into the table.

    • Why are folks using a knife to remove the avocado seed? Trying to spear the hard slippery seed with a knife is foolhardy.

    After cutting the avocado in two with a paring knife, I use a spoon to scoop out that huge seed, then I use the same spoon to scoop out the fruit from the skin.

    • My daughter used to work in hand surgery. SHe told me that cutting avocados carelessly is a very common cause of injury.

    • A delicious way to eat an avo is to halve it, scoop out the seed, place a spoon of sugar in the hole then sqeeze lemon juice into it and mash a little with your spoon. Better still use percolated coffee instead of lemon. Yum yum!
