Nonsense. Lots of people have kicked Type 2 Diabetes using the high-fat Atkins diet (including several people I know).
Nonsense. Dr. Fatkins died obese and from a heart attack & hypertension, which proves his Fatkins diet was unhealthy.
The aforementioned medical journals referenced by Dr. McDougall show that high fat diets cause type 2 diabetes because of insulin resistance.
The Fatkins diet is not a lifestyle diet, rather it's an unhealthy fad to help middle aged women get into their prom dress and attend their 20 year class reunion with confidence.
People who persist in the Fatkins diet will develop obesity, diabetes, hypertension, chronic lethargy, strokes, poor moods, etc, many of which afflicted Dr. Fatkins and led to his death.
quote from PG:
The problem with this diet is that a person suffering from type 2 diabetes is not in any condition to exercise.
Small steps. Gradual conditioning. Nobody is expecting them to perform like Olympic athletes. They're not in any condition to exercise because they sit on their asses all day, and their problem is compounded by eating fatty foods and excess animal protein, hence the diabetes. The worst thing for them to do is remain lethargic and not begin an exercise regimen.
They have no energy because they're too sedentary and they don't eat enough carbs to get anything done. They're in perpetual ketosis.
