  • More than 90% of my diet is carbohydrate, including table sugar and white rice, and my body fat percentage is less than 10%, and it's around 5% when I'm in peak condition. I run more each week than some people drive their cars, and I lift weights & do calisthenics.

Leanness (weight loss and weight gain) have nothing to do with macro distribution in the diet.  If you expend more calories than you consume, then you'll lose weight.  Period.  You can find just as many people on low-carb diets with similar stats in terms of leanness.  Vast majority of bodybuilders go on low-carb diets to burn that last bit of body fat.

  • Dr. Fatkins and his fraudulent diet should not be looked upon with respect. He died obese and from heart disease & hypertension. That alone should tell you the Fatkins' diet is unhealthy and a lie.

Come on, now.  Logic really isn't your strength.  I've seen a lot of fat physicians telling their patients to lose weight.  And heart/disease and hypertension is more directly linked to Vitamin C deficiency (cf. the work of Linus Pauling).

  • Get some carbs in you, brah. It will help you think better. Carbs are fuel for the brain and muscles.

I said quite clearly that I'm on intermittent fasting and not on Atkins.  I get a good mix of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.  Do you reject the proven benefits of eating various kinds of good fats with Omega-3s?

On Intermittent Fasting I've lost about 12 pounds of FAT in the past 3 weeks, and no muscle or water loss.

And what's with the "brah" stuff?

  • Idiot.  That's why low-carb Atkins dieting is proven to reverse Type II diabetes.  I personally know a few people who reversed Type 2 with the Atkins diet.

Your're misleading people with this crap.
Lardislaus, what's your body fat percentage?

It's obvious you are undercarbed, judging how you have the temper tantrums of a spoiled 14 year girl. Get some carbs in you, brah. It helps improve mood, too. It's fuel for cognition and, of course, muscles engaging in rigorous, sustained exercise.

The fact that you continue to ignore is they are not even close to the level of health of a person who engages in endurance activities, and they would destroy themselves or simply quit, if they tried endurance activities while burning ketones based off their low carb - high fat diet.

Those body builders usually don't have any athleticism in them. They're all a shell. Crystal vases is what they're called by exercise physiologists. Those punks are easily breakable.

And you still haven't refuted the fact that refined sugar & white rice cures diabetes.

What are you, about 12 years old?

Yes, if I ran 8 hours a day (which evidently you have time to do as a spoiled self-absorbed Millennial ... judging from your level of maturity), I might need more carbs.  But I get plenty of carbs for my needs in any given day.  As for my body fat percentage, I don't know it.

Hey, tubby, I'm not a millennial, and I don't even come close to running 8 hours a day. Not even Kenyans run that much. And how can a millennial be 12 years old? Even your ad hominems are exceedingly illogical. :laugh1:

There's a good probability you are pre-diabetic, and you might struggle to distance yourself from the threshold of obesity, because you consume too much fat, oils and animal protein. That's the whole point. You need to cut out those foods.

Obviously the 12-year-old comment was a commentary on my part about your MENTAL state, your level of immaturity.  And you merely reinforced that with your "tubby" comment.  In one of your posts, you bragged about your high level of physical activity, and the 8 hours was yet again another hyperbole.

I'm pre-nothing and am in very good shape, thank you.  Undoubtedly not in as good shape as you, but then I have duties of state which limit the amount of time I can devote to the pursuit of vanity.

I've known two people who developed Type 2 diabetes and reversed it completely through low-carb dieting .. .and clinical studies back that up.

Who started the immaturity? You called me "idiot" before I ever made reference to your fatty deposits.

What about your vanity (or maybe it's insecurity) of your own intellect which is displayed by making comments, "logic really isn't your strength", to me.

You, evidently, give yourself a free pass for immaturity and vanity while criticizing me for it. Nice double standards, brah. :laugh1:

It's only temporary. Low-carb diet is not a lifestyle diet.  It will inevitably lead the person to periodically binge on carbs due to chronic low energy and sugar cravings.  A sustained diet that's high in fats, oils and animal protein will, inevitably, lead to diabetes, heart disease, stroke, hypertension and / or cancer.

And I posted references to medical journals in the OP showing that refined sugar & white rice cure diabetes, and fats & oils cause diabetes.

  • Dr. Mark Hyman, M.D. has written several books and has produced several videos, which have been highly researched, and which prove that a low carb (no sugar, no flour, no processed foods, no grain except rice), moderate protein (low in dairy products but high in fatty fish, eggs, bone broth, and animal meats, especially chicken, turkey, and pasture raised animals), and a high fat diet rich in Omega 3s such as uncooked pastured butter (animals raised on green grass), fish oil, avocados, nuts, coconut, and olive oil, will not only reverse high blood pressure, but also will reverse diabetes, alzheimer's, and even cancer. He also recommends avoiding processed foods and fried foods.

I have been on his diet for two years losing 30 pounds and now having a healthy BMI along with a normal blood pressure, normal cholesterol, and normal fasting blood glucose levels.

For more information, please visit Dr. Mark Hyman's website, view his videos on youtube, and read his best-selling books.
p.s. I do not appreciate the endorsement he received by Bill Clinton, but that is the only black mark on his home page.

    Start with the Basics
These nutrients are foundational supplements that cover the bases you might not—probably aren’t—getting from food. They feed your body and feed your brain. I put nearly all my patients on these supplements.
When choosing supplements, you should absolutely choose quality products. Not all supplements are created equal, and the wrong supplements—those with things like potentially reactive fillers or inferior forms of nutrients—can create more harm than good.
Fortunately, even among professional brands, none of these supplements are expensive. These are the foundational supplements that I recommend everyone take:
    • A high-quality, high-potency, highly bioavailable, broad-spectrum multivitamin/mineral. This contains optimal amounts of the full range of vitamins and minerals in their correct forms. You will probably need to take 2 – 6 or more capsules (depending on the manufacturer’s recommended dose).
    • Extra magnesium. Research shows about 75 percent of us are deficient in this calming mineral that plays a part in over 300 enzymatic reactions in our bodies. Take 200 – 400 mg of magnesium citrate or glycinate before bed in addition to what is in your multi. This relaxes the nervous system and muscles while calming your brain.
    • Extra vitamin D3. Because so many of us work indoors all day, more than 80 percent of the US population has insufficient levels of vitamin D, which our bodies synthesize from sunlight. Research shows vitamin D deficiencies contribute to a wide range of problems including dementia. Ask your doctor for a vitamin D test and if your levels are low, work with him or her to optimize them.
    • Omega-3 fatty acids. Our brains are nearly 60 percent fat, so it should be no surprise that not getting sufficient dietary fat can adversely impact this organ. Chief among those fatty acids for your brain are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). These omega-3 fatty acids are critical for supporting brain function and mood, regulating metabolism, and preventing diabetes and inflammation. Most of us need more than our food delivers, which is why I recommend a high-quality supplement.

    • Special methylation factors like folate, B6, and B12. Methylation is a key biochemical process essential for the proper function of almost all of your body’s systems. It occurs billions of times every second; it helps repair your DNA on a daily basis; it controls homocysteine (an unhealthy compound that can damage blood vessels); it helps recycle molecules needed for detoxification; and it helps maintain mood and keep inflammation in check. To keep methylation running smoothly you need optimal levels of these B vitamins. Without enough B vitamins methylation breaks down, and the results can be catastrophic. Your multi will contain some B vitamins, but I find many patients do well taking an additional B-complex multivitamin.
    • Probiotics. These beneficial bacteria can improve your digestion, reduce food allergies, and reduce gut inflammation. Gut health plays a powerful role in brain health. When you don’t have the right gut diversity, inflammation and things like leaky brain can occur, setting the stage for diverse problems ranging from brain fog to dementia.
    Going Deeper with Supplements
I frequently use other supplements beyond these foundational nutrients to address specific brain conditions. I’ve discussed these in my Broken Brain docuseries. They include:
    • Glutathione precursors. Glutathione is your body’s master antioxidant that also recycles other antioxidants, which are critical for cleaning up free radicals. When left unchecked, these free radicals lead to massive cell destruction (including brain cells). A great way to get glutathione is with a lot of cruciferous rich vegetables such as broccoli and collards. Various supplements including lipoic acid, N-acetyl-cysteine, and quality grass-fed whey protein all serve as precursors to help your body make glutathione.
    • Support your mitochondria. These little power plants in nearly all your cells fuel your brain and body. Nutritional deficiencies, low levels of antioxidants, exposure to toxins, allergens, infections, and stress can all damage your mitochondria. “If your mitochondria are not working very well, then that organ doesn’t work very well. In the brain, that means that you begin to have problems with fatigue, pain, irritability, and cognitive decline,” says Dr. Terry Wahls in our Broken Brain interview. Nutrients you can use to optimize mitochondria include L-carnitine, NADH, lipoic acid, and coenzyme Q10. When you don’t get enough of these nutrients, your mitochondria have a much more difficult time producing energy, compounding the problems they face from the onslaught of ever more free radicals. Your brain cells fire more slowly, your metabolism slows, and your ability to process toxins shuts down.
    • Try calming nutrients. Mood disorders like anxiety and depression are at epic levels today. Fortunately, we have a wide array of supplement options to address these brain conditions. GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a nutrient that calms the brain from too much of the neurotransmitters epinephrine and norepinephrine. It is like a brake on overstimulation in the brain. When you have low levels of GABA, it is harder for you to relax after your body has released these excitatory neurotransmitters. Other supplements that can improve conditions like depression and anxiety include L-theanine (an amino acid in green tea), 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), inositol (usually found as a powder), and herbs like Rhodiola rosea.
I recommend working with a Functional Medicine practitioner to address your particular supplement needs, though as I mentioned, nearly everyone will benefit from these foundational nutrients. I’ve gone into more detail about many of these and other nutrients in my Broken Brain docuseries. You can learn more about this cutting-edge series here.

    Wishing you health and happiness,
    Mark Hyman, MD

  • I ran out of time to edit:

Here is Dr. Fred Pescatore's blog on Weight Control and Related Disorders: https://drpescatore.com/medicine-369/weight-related-disorders

    Quote
    Weight-Related Disorders

In my book, The Hamptons Diet, a New York Times best seller, I teach readers how they can still eat delicious foods and lose weight – while most importantly – maintaining this lifestyle change to carry on with them forever.
Between serving as the associate medical director of the Atkins Center for five years and an additional 20 years of experience and research, I have helped thousands of patients lose weight – and keep it off for good! Unlike “fad diets,” for diabetes, the dietary approach we take is a lower carbohydrate, Mediterranean style dietary approach which has been scientifically proven to reduce blood sugar levels. Most of our patients who follow the protocol are able to dramatically reduce their medications and often times are able to eliminate their medications completely.
As a recognized expert on cardiovascular disease, I have lectured around the world about healthfulness of a diet rich in omega fatty 9 acids and a decrease in simple carbohydrates, and the longer life expectancy this brings. Our workup includes all the cardiovascular risk markers, not just cholesterol. Reducing inflammatory markers, maintaining optimal blood sugar, Insulin, and Vitamin D levels are just as important as having a normal blood pressure. With a few lifestyle changes, we can teach you how to prevent heart disease.
    Lord have mercy.

Dr. Fred Pescatore's blog on Weight Control and Related Disorders [...]
Dr. Hyman is a Jew, and Dr. Pescatore is a suspect sodomite, and both are mainstream media shills selling snake oil. The "studies" showing the "efficacy" of the Fatkins diet are fake and sponsored by the meat & dairy industry.

You might as well use the crypto-Jew, Dr. Oz (a Turkish Donmeh), as a source for a "healthy diet".

Keep ignoring the real science referenced in the OP showing table sugar and white rice cures diabetes; and fats & oils cause diabetes.

You can find a crackpot who believes anything somewhere on the interwebs.

There have been TONS of clinical studies demonstrating the harm of refined sugar, and the benefits of certain good kinds of fat.  I doubt that you have kids, or else you'd be well aware that many/most kids go nuts when subjected to straight unrefined sugar, and then go into withdrawal when they crash down off of it.

I've known two people now who reversed Type II diabetes using low-carb and got off their meds.
