#1) ... the statement was offered largely tongue-in-cheek
#2) in that context, it was mostly a commentary on the depravity of her blasphemy, making the woman in the OP look tame by comparison.
Both of these should have been obvious from the phrase "Now if only ..."
God would be right to smite her for the incredibly depraved blasphemies that woman has uttered. Of course, I would not take it upon my own authority to apply capital punishment to her, but I would fully support a Catholic state to judge her guilty of blasphemy and condemn her to death.
For all that you denounce everyone else here as "evil", "PURE evil", you're really hands down THE most judgmental and arrogant person on this forum. You'll call me "PURE evil", but then you wouldn't say that of Sarah Silverman, would you? I'm guessing that the most depraved blasphemies possible is not big deal vs. condemning her blasphemies. She boasted that she was glad that they put Our Lord to death and would do it again.
It's the old hypocrisy of judging people for being judgmental.
It's like that other thread where you say, "Thank God I am not like that Pharisee."
I took your comment literally, as in, you were wishing for God to send a lightning strike to this Silverman lady. In other words, you wouldn't be unhappy if lightning (or I guess some other calamity) befell her. Tongue in cheek? Hmmm, I didn't take it like that, as I said.
If you read, then re-read what I said. You quoted me, so read it. I did NOT say you were evil. Big difference. Wishing harm for someone else is evil.
Thanks for your high esteem once again. I don't know where I would be without it.
Actually, I don't really know who Sarah Silverman is. I know she is some sort of comedian, but I don't know anything beyond that. So you are wrong. WRONG. I can't judge her comedy, because I have never heard it.
Contrary to a number of CI people here, I don't really "follow" Hollywood, and have no clue about a lot of current actors or actresses or anything of the sort. I have a limited "Hollywood" knowledge of many things. I don't watch a lot of TV, don't remember the last movie I saw in a theatre, and couldn't tell you many "current movies" from the 21st Century. Actually, I cannot even tell you one! I have repeatedly walked past supposed stars and celebrities on the streets, and really could care less--I have cared for numerous "famous" people over the years and could care less. They got the same excellent care that the homeless did. They didn't get any special treatment from me, although some tried to bribe me or coerce me otherwise. LOL. They regularly film movies and TV shows in our area--big deal. I have worked on TV and movie sets--big deal. Some of it is interesting, but most of it is rather boring and a lot of "hurry up and wait." They feed people well though. If they came and film again, they would be not be unwelcome on the whole. I know many people that have worked in the industry. They are good people and are picky about what they work on. They have asked us to use our home to film. I still have not agreed to it for a number of reasons, but I may still. There's no hurry.
I don't recall ever watching anything like the Oscars or Academy Awards beyond maybe a few minutes, how many years ago, and so I am so sorry that I also cannot tell you what this Sarah Silverman person does for her jokes. You will have to ask the resident Hollywood Gossip experts here on the forums--there are a few that seem to know the ins and outs and who's who of the whole place--which is astonishing actually. If you want National Enquirer style news, come here to CI. If you want a bunch of low-level shill podcasts, come here, too.
Anyway, as for this Sarah person? I am not worried. God is the boss, and He will deal with her, you, and me, and everyone else as He sees fit. Now, if this Sarah lady is blaspheming? Well, that's a foolish thing to do indeed, and I hope and pray that she will stop. But I have no clue how to reach her, don't care to bother to find out, and really am much happier hanging around this ever-so-cheerful-and-supposedly-fabulous-example-of-Catholic-behaviour on the forums that wishes harm to other people, Jєωιѕн or not. Sarcasm. (In this case, yes, Silverman is obviously a Jєωιѕн name). But anyway, we are not supposed to wish harm to others, period.
There is a saying in the world, "What goes around, comes around." Aka, if you wish harm on others, then one should not be surprised when it lands at their own feet. Buddhists will call it Karma. New-Agers call it something else.
Third Sunday after Epiphany
Epistle Romans 12: 16-21
"Let us make acts of faith in the divinity of Jesus that we may enter His kingdom. Let us by our charity help all men."
Brethren: Be not wise in your own conceits. To no man rendering evil for evil: providing good things, not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as is in you, have peace with all men. Revenge not yourselves, my dearly beloved, but give place unto wrath, for it is written: Revenge is mine: I will repay, saith the Lord. But if thine enemy be hungry, give him to eat; if he thirst, give him to drink: for doing this, thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil by good."
Like I said, wishing someone evil or harm is evil. That goes whether the person is Jєωιѕн or not. So I hope you are praying for that Sarah Silverman lady, too. (Oh, but of course probably not, right, because she is Jєωιѕн, and it's get into the whole Good-Friday Missal issue, among other things. Sigh.) Well, let me put it this way then. If you are not praying for the Jєωs? Then you are still part of the problem and not part of the solution.
Or, for a more "enlightened" thought for your intellect--perhaps it may be your prayers that would help this Sarah Silverman lady to change her ways. How do you like them apples?
Nightie night, back to my tea and recovery. :-)
And thanks God, it's wonderful to drive again, and to have been able to visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament today! God is good!
