  • Anyone here go through it or know much about it?

Have a family member and a friend who both will have to go through it soon.

Have to make a decision decision whether to go for monofocal or multifocal (expensive and riskier) lenses.
    Sincerely,

    Shin

  • I don't know very much about the procedure itself, other than they say it is "routine."

One of my grandfathers had it done in the past; he says it has improved his sight greatly.

  • It is simple surgery but no surgery is without risk.

I've had it done on both eyes at different times. It should make a big improvement to vision. It involves removing the patient's own opaque lens and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens.

Attend to what Nadir wrote. I second it 100 percent.

Monofocal is my advice. Among many other reasons, there is the fact that the choice of multifocals will inevitably leave you feeling much older (don't laugh! the psychological impact is genuine and far-reaching).

Far better still would be to ditch the lenses and revert to specs unless the weakness in your left eye differs markedly from that in your right.

  • I think the decision is for monofocals.

My Dad recently had his right eye done.  He is 84 and has better vision than his 53 year old daughter!  His lense is monofocal.
