  • I had a pork and bean cake and it was like a spice cake and it had layers with cream cheese frosting. Wow! You'd never know that a can of beans was added.

  • Black bean burgers are also very, very good. If they made a good chicken equivalent, I could probably give up meat forever  :laugh1:

  • interesting and easy recipe. Sounds delicious. Dr Fuhmann is obviously a vegan.

I have a friend who runs a vegan restaurant. Has also published vegan recipe books. I'll send this to him.

I am just sitting here saying "what the .....???", but you've got my curiosity up.

I'm reminded here of the bean pies sold by the Nation of Islam.  I've never had one, but I've heard they're pretty good, IIRC they add sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and possibly other things.  I may get pilloried for saying this, but I actually do not have any bad feelings towards the NOI, aside from their being adherents to a heretical religion.  They advocate clean living, hard work, and they seek to advance and uplift their race.  They dress neatly and sharply, suits and bow ties, unlike the hip-hoppers and the rappers with those silly short pants they wear around their thighs while showing copious amounts of underwear.  (I've heard it said that Malcolm X was basically a conservative.)  Wouldn't be a bad playbook for the European-descended people to take some clues from.  I'm at peace with all races and ethnicities, and am inspired by their efforts to uplift themselves (beats handouts, stealing, and looting!), I just love my own as much as they love theirs.  How can that be a bad thing?

  • “There's a recipe for bean pie in Imogene Wolcott's 1939 The Yankee Cookbook, submitted by Mrs. Mae Bangs of Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, and it could pass for any of the Muslim recipes I've seen—if she only called for raw sugar.”
May God bless you and keep you
