    Benefit of Walnuts...

Oftentimes, the simplest foods are best for your health, and this is certainly the case for nuts, in which Mother Nature has crafted a nearly perfect package of protein, healthy fats, fiber, plant sterols, antioxidants, and many vitamins and minerals.

Among nuts, the case may be made that walnuts are king, as research shows they may boost your health in a number of ways at very easy-to-achieve “doses.”

Eating just one ounce of walnuts a day (that’s about seven shelled walnuts) may be all it takes to take advantage of their beneficial properties.

7 Top Reasons to Eat Walnuts

Walnuts belong to the tree nut family, along with Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, and pistachios. Each has its own unique nutritional profile.

One-quarter cup of walnuts, for instance, provides more than 100 percent of the daily recommended value of plant-based omega-3 fats, along with high amounts of copper, manganese, molybdenum, and biotin. Some of the most exciting research about walnuts includes:

  • I can vouch for the health benefits of walnuts and other nuts.

In this period when I'm passing through a difficult period related to my health (and not only), nuts have a stabilising effect on my health diet. Otherwise things would be much worse.  :ready-to-eat:

  • Amazing! I had just discovered this recipe for Walnut pasta sauce before reading your post.

    Ingredients
Soft inside of small bread roll soaked in milk then squeezed dry
1 lb walnuts - shell and crush
    1 clove garlic - chopped
3-4 tablespoons grated Parmesan or Pecorino cheese
    pinch of salt
    olive oil

Whirl for a few seconds in a liquidizer and gradually add enough oil to make a smooth paste. Dilute with some of the pasta water but do not whizz again.
Serve on pasta with melted butter and grated parmesan.

Sounds quick and easy, though I'd be buying shelled nuts.

I guess peanuts don't qualify, do they, they grow in the ground.

But what about sunflower seeds and sesame seeds?  Sesame seed oil is what makes a Chinese chicken salad happen.  Similarly, pine nuts are key in certain salads.

Pecan pies are incomparable.  You can't substitute another nut for pecans in the pies.

Oh, and almonds.  They grow on trees.

  • Walnuts and pecans are my least favourite. I like Brazil nuts and hazelnuts most, probably. Are they good?
