Can someone verify if this "recipe" for organic shampoo actually works?

    http://www.organicauthority.com/delicious-beauty/homemade-shampoo-and-conditioner-recipes-for-natural-hair.html

The recipe will work as a safe non-chemical shampoo and conditioner.  If you want to stop hair from falling out, it's a no go.  I even thought to check uses for tea tree oil and it doesn't help hair.

The article was just a lot of gloss.  There's been a movement afoot for about 4-5 years now, called no-poo.  People have been using  a paste made from baking soda for shampoo and vinegar for hair conditioner.  All natural, safe, and most importantly, CHEAP!   For those who dye their hair, vinegar can be rubbed into the hair before dying and let sit for five minutes and rinsed.  This strips away shampoo and conditioner residue and helps the dye to grab onto the hair.

About hair falling out, nothing can be done except taking a chance with Rogain or hair transplants.

God rolls our DNA dice and we have to accept what he rolls and knowing it was God who rolled the dice we know he won't roll craps.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I'll check my herbal remedy books and see if I can come up with something.

  • What I meant was that I was hesitant to rub some witch's brew concoction I found on the Internet into my hair before finding out if it actually worked lest I should find my hair falling out in clumps after my shower!

    Thank you.

To save money use white distilled vinegar for conditioner.
For shampoo use liquid castile soap with tea tree oil  (Dr Bronners brand), less mixing.

    To clarify:

    1) For conditioner - I just buy white distilled vinegar at the supermarket and put it in my hair? How much? Straight out of the bottle?

    2) For shampoo - just the liquid castile soap (Dr. Bronner's) and tea tree oil? How much of each? Can I make a lot and fill a shampoo bottle with it? Or will it go bad?

Castile soap, green tea, olive oil, honey, sage, yarrow, marigold, nettle, burdock, rosemary, vinegar, water,  lemon and cucuмber - a list of all the ingredients listed for making shampoo and conditioner. I'm wondering why you would think anything here could make your hair fall out. Most of (all?) these ingredients are edible.

When you read the ingredients on the mainstream commercial products you really wonder just what you are putting on your one and only head.

    1.  yes to the first part of the question.  Straight out of the bottle and enough to wet your hair through.

2.Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap can be purchased with the tea tree oil already in it.  There are other Dr. Bronner's soaps with other natural ingredients, for instance, lavender, just in case you want to stink nice, lol.  No I don't work for the Dr. Bronner's company, it's just a great product.  The product I'm recommending for your hair will also, wash your body, clothes, floors, dishes, and anything else you feel like cleaning.  Anymore questions feel free to ask.

I forgot, buy a larger bottle of vinegar and pour it of into a smaller bottle for use in the bathroom, a definite money saver.

Is this soap something I can find at a standard supermarket or do I need to go somewhere fancy? Thank you for your help!

Dr. Bronner's products can be found in natural health stores or online.
