  • While nutritionists and doctors are now demonizing sugar as the real culprit in the SAD American Diet, salt and fats are now being reconsidered as essential. In fact, there is a connection between a low salt diet and diabetes. Kidneys are harmed by a low fat diet as is the thyroid gland.

What type of salt is good?

Ocean salt has been found to have microscopic plastic particles along with BPA and even traces of heavy metals.

Ancient oceans are better sources of salt.

For more information, see the video below.

    Lord have mercy.

    Note correction above.

By the way, a low fat diet (low in Omega 3) leads to an increase in wrinkles and dry skin. What does a low-fat diet do to the rest of the body? All our cell membranes are composed of lipids, which are fats. Fats are also crucial for brain health. Mitochrondria need to burn fats if they are to be the powerhouse of our cells.
    Lord have mercy.

  • Here is a quality blogger discussing salt in diet.  I removed salt from my diet for many months, and other than having more muscle definition due to less water retention.  I didn't notice much difference.

  • Maria REgina - The best type of salt to eat is by far pink salt.  I think it may only come from the himalayas.  But, it has a great taste.  I used to put a lot of salt on my food when eating a strict vegetarian starch based diet.  So, I would notice the taste of each type of salt.  Coarse sea salt comes next as pretty good.  Table salt is pretty much disgusting.  Pink salt wins.  It is very savory.

Msgr. Patrick Perez studied geology in college. He told me all of the salt he uses in his house is Himalayan (pink) salt.
It's available at Trader Joe's for example.
    .
I was surprised to find in a Korean grocery store that they have about 20 different kinds of salt for sale.
Large salt crystals are an ingredient of kim chee, and they use specific types of salt in many other recipes too.
