https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/chaga-mushroom#what-it-is
Chaga mushroom is a fungus that grows primarily on birch trees in cold climates. With an appearance similar to burnt charcoal, it has been harvested for centuries as a traditional medicine.

You can get it on eBay.  For about 20-40 bucks you get a year's supply because you use very little, as it steeps in water leeching out it's properties over days.  The longer it steeps, the more health benefits you get.  It tastes like coffee with less bite and will even complement coffee if you so choose. If chaga isn't your cup of coffee, you can try dried dandelion root which is also a healthy coffee substitute.  I recently purchased chaga and it tastes great.  I let mine steep on the stove on warm, and add water daily until eventually the water becomes clear, then I add more.

Does it have an energizing effect though? I get my caffeine via this energy powder you shake in a shaker cup.

It does energize, but only because it is an antioxidant that benefits health, not because it is a stimulant.  However, you can mix 60% chaga with 40% coffee (or less coffee) and maintain whatever level of stimulant you want.  Eventually, ditch the coffee entirely because the chaga has so many health benefits and is so much cheaper when all the nutrients are extracted over time.  Chaga makes coffee less bitter, too. Leave it on the stove on low during the day and fire it up again the next day. Just don't forget to fill your vessel with water after taking a portion so it doesn't boil dry.

This is the first one I found because it is chopped up and wild harvested, and that helps. I bought chunks so I could see what it is.  Something to think about,  but Amazon is safe in the sense you can send it back safely.
