Alternatives to caffeine?

  • Hey does anyone here know of any good caffeine alternatives? I have built up a decent tolerance to caffeine and it does not give me the complete wakeup feeling it used to when I just had a cup of coffee a week. Please don't suggest anything stupid that these health sites list like smoothies, get sunlight, sleep, oranges, bananas, etc. I am looking for something like a stimulant.

Morning exercise, with tons of water.  I've also heard lemon + green tea is good...not as strong as coffee, but you should try to cut back on caffeine, get your body back in balance, and then coffee will work again.

  • Mountain Dew?

Mountain Dew + Cigarettes will do it.

80 grams of sugar/16 oz bottle and a good blast of nicotine will get your body movin.

  • You'd want to limit it to a couple cups once a day in the morning.  If you start drinking coffee throughout the day, it does get to a point where you don't drink it for the jolt but keep drinking it to avoid crashing.

So the answer is to cut back and then the morning coffee will have their intended effect.

Get physical, go dig trenches, carry trees, chase away bulls, then you'll be dead at night and sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed and ready to go. Most people sit around an office all day, get home have dinner and a few drinks and fall asleep on the couch or the computer at midnight, and then wonder why they need a caffeine bomb in the morning and all day.

  • There is a substance out there called kratom, but it can be addictive.  It's technically in the coffee family, but does act on the same receptors that opioids hit.  It has great properties for pain relief, relaxation, and also can help people wake up in the morning by relieving the discomforts involved.  It can help people who suffering from anxiety.  It's banned in about 3-4 states, and Trump's FDA chief, a big pharma revolving door guy, tried to get it banned as "unsafe and ineffective" ... despite the fact that a pharma company he's tied to got an extract of the active ingredient from kratom patented and approved by the FDA as "safe and effective".  Go figure, right?

kratom is used by opioid addicts to prevent withdrawal symptoms and by people with chronic pain where nothing else has helped.  It is somewhat addictive on its own, but more like how coffee is addictive than an opioid would be.  Unlike opioids, kratom does not impair the faculties or reflexes.  People in the Southeast Pacific, where it grows natively, chew on the leaves or make teas out of the leaves, and have used it for centuries to help them get through long days of hard labor.

  • Amphetamines?  Sorry, I cannot recommend it!  Why not re-set your body clock?  The fastest way is go caffeine cold-turkey for 10 days, then introduce a small amount in the morning, only!
Maybe you should look into getting more or better sleep, reduce stress, take a vacation or sabbatical?

Chaga mushroom is a fungus that grows primarily on birch trees in cold climates. With an appearance similar to burnt charcoal, it has been harvested for centuries as a traditional medicine.

You can get it on eBay.  For about 20-40 bucks you get a year's supply because you use very little, as it steeps in water leeching out it's properties over days.  The longer it steeps, the more health benefits you get.  It tastes like coffee with less bite and will even complement coffee if you so choose. If chaga isn't your cup of coffee, you can try dried dandelion root which is also a healthy coffee substitute.  I recently purchased chaga and it tastes great.  I let mine steep on the stove on warm, and add water daily until eventually the water becomes clear, then I add more.

Does it have an energizing effect though? I get my caffeine via this energy powder you shake in a shaker cup.

It does energize, but only because it is an antioxidant that benefits health, not because it is a stimulant.  However, you can mix 60% chaga with 40% coffee (or less coffee) and maintain whatever level of stimulant you want.  Eventually, ditch the coffee entirely because the chaga has so many health benefits and is so much cheaper when all the nutrients are extracted over time.  Chaga makes coffee less bitter, too. Leave it on the stove on low during the day and fire it up again the next day. Just don't forget to fill your vessel with water after taking a portion so it doesn't boil dry.

This is the first one I found because it is chopped up and wild harvested, and that helps. I bought chunks so I could see what it is.  Something to think about,  but Amazon is safe in the sense you can send it back safely.
