My point is:
Smoke a cigarette. Smoke a whole pack. Did you die? Did you get cancer? Guess cigarettes don't cause cancer. Maybe they're just fine for your health.
See the problem with that logic?
Just because some ill effects take years (or even a couple decades, in some cases) to develop, doesn't mean those ill effects aren't there, or aren't 100% real.
Asbestos doesn't even harm you right away. I believe that one takes years, even a decade or more, to manifest itself. The 9/11 firefighters and first responders took years to die. In fact, some are still alive, with a few years left to live.
Anything that gives you cancer in 20 years should be COMPLETELY avoided AT ALL COSTS -- unless you're 70 years old. Most of us have 20 more years of life easy. Some of us QUITE a bit more than that!
They used to call cancer "consumption". Children, youths, and middle-aged people dying of consumption should NOT be a thing. Something is wrong with our diet, our environment, our cosmetics, or something.
My uncle's wife died of cancer in her 40's. They weren't practicing Catholics; maybe it was birth control. But think about it: if her genes were that bad, to cause her to die in her 40's, her line wouldn't have made it to the 1990s. That argument is even more powerful when it's CHILDREN dying of cancer. If it's genetic or hereditary, how did their parents survive childhood in order to mature to adulthood and have children?
