    • Thank you everyone.  I'm 53 now.  I look at a birthday as "I'm one day older today than I was yesterday." ... and really, one day closer to my judgment.  It's God's mercy to let us grow older and have time to realize that life is short and that we need to make the most of all the time we're given.  Youngsters have this feeling of being almost immortal, and that they have "plenty" of time.  I feel like it was just yesterday that I went to STAS at the age of 21.  But it's 32 years now.

    I hear you --

    We get a long off-ramp from this life. A bit of time to adjust to the inevitability of death and passage to the next life. Plenty of chances to unplug or "let go" from this life -- with the nudging getting more urgent with every passing year.

    Kind of like deep-sea divers returning to the surface slowly, to avoid getting "the bends".

    Aw, that's just me in "battle mode."  Like you said, I too can get into brawls one minute, and an hour later, or on another subject, harbor no animosity at all.  Its natural for men of temper and virility to go all out in support of their positions.  St. Augustine and St. Jerome anathematized eachother more times than you and I have  :laugh2: :laugh1:
