Yes Lad, I do appreciate your insights. Happy Birthday.

Ladislaus,
Like the others who've said it, I enjoy reading your posts and sometimes only log in to see if you've posted anything new.
Thank you for your prayers & taking the time to answer my direct questions. Your guidance is a blessing.
God bless you, good sir. I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

Happy birthday, Lad! I'll offer my rosary for you today.

Thanks, everyone. It's the old 55 today ... when I thought (when I was younger) I'd be able to retire. That target has been revised to about 75-80.

55 is still young, in my book. Happy birthday!

Oh, to be 55 again.
(But then again I would not have my monthly Social Security payment.)

I don't believe I'll see a dime of Social Security. Over the years, they've taken more out of my paycheck for SS than they have for federal taxes, but there will likely not be anything left by the time I hit 62/67. Or else, they'll just raise the retirement age again.

Thank you. When I got married 23 years ago, my wife's parents were in their mid-fifties, and they seemed "old" to me. That seemed like yesterday, but now here I am too. Life is short and over in the blink of an eye. All that matters is eternity. Simple math is that any finite number divided by eternity is 0, so this life is literally nothing compared to eternity.

Yes, so true.

If this were France, there would be rioting in the streets (not condoning, just stating the fact) with cars set on fire (ditto).
Non-violent manifestations, which nobody does better than the French and their Québécois country cousins, as well as general strikes (given the drastic situation that would give rise to them in this case), are entirely morally licit.
But this being the US, people will just sit back and take it.

Or maybe they'll just print more money.
I've said for some time, that all this stimulus money, and all this COVID relief, would just eventually result in inflation, as the money has to go somewhere. Groceries have gotten out of reason, and I rarely eat out anymore, I treated my mother and myself to a cheese and onion Big New Yorker pizza from the Hut this evening (Friday), but that's about a once-a-month thing.

This Bud's for me. Oh, wait, no ... :laugh1:
I never really drank the stuff anyway ... probably a total of a half dozen bottles in my entire 55 years, and only to be polite when others offered them to me.

That reminds me. Bishop Gracida turned 100 yesterday (he shares my birthday of June 9).
When I was born in 1968, June 9 was Holy Trinity Sunday, so I always considered Holy Trinity Sunday my personal Feast Day.

Happy birthday, Ladislaus! Yay!
