We just lost a rosary about a week ago.
We live on a street where you have to pick up your mail at the community mail boxes -- like a lot of subdivisions, only ours doesn't have a sign or a name (or a homeowners association).
Anyhow, I got my mail one day and I believe I left my rosary on top of the mailboxes. I realized it when we were about a mile or two away; but we figured it would still be there when we got back, as we were only going to be gone for about an hour, our street isn't that large or populated, and let's face it, the rosary wasn't made of gold or silver -- it wasn't even expensive. Just an average rosary.
Well, it wasn't there when we got back. So somebody STOLE our rosary. And yes, you can't just take a rosary someone left at the mailboxes with any excuse, "If I don't take it, the next person will." or "The person won't be by here again." because these are mailboxes that everyone has to visit regularly, most people drive by them every day, and our neighborhood isn't that large!
It was my wife's rosary, from before she met me. It had a JP2 "broken cross" crucifix, a Divine Mercy medal in the middle -- that's the one consolation: it wasn't that great of a rosary.
Still, it's sad that someone had to steal it.
