It seems that whenever I've spoken to other Catholics about how no Catholics retain the faith while pursuing fame, someone will have mentioned to me "Nicole Kidman" as a rebuttle, and at this I have to laugh. Didn't she do a film where she was a witch? Come on! She sold out her faith a LONG time ago. What did being a witch have to do with her "Catholic essence"? She is full of bologna.
And while Mel Gibson is a trad, he wasn't following his faith when he did a bunch of scandalous movies earlier on in his career. Let's pray for the conversion of many so-called "important" people in Hollywood. They submerse themselves in a world where money, fame, power, and beauty are the main objectives and all of it is pursued by creating fascades where nothing is spared and nothing is sacred. They are like rotten, spoiled children who instead of playing with dolls, they play their make-believe with human lives and souls like toys to obtain their unholy ambitions. Their idols are their whims and being so subjected to the spirit of illusions, of falsity, they become a so much a part of it that they know no longer how to discern truth, let alone believe in the existence of truth, much less the consequences of their scandalous involvements. They are poor, indeed, of grace and of virtue. They are so used to creating lies that they have no means of discerning truth, and try to make themselves into heros by doing charity work in an area, but with only as much success as their money and gullibility will by them. They are helpless left to their own devices and bitter, going from one failed relationship to another. They detest what they don't have, the true heroism of the Catholics that live private, humble lives and who have true goodness: virtue and grace in Christ Jesus in the one true, holy and Apostolic Church -- the Catholic Church.
Also, I pray that if she doesn't repent immediately (like, today) that she is EXCOMMUNICATED. This would be a true act of charity, oriented first to He Who Is TRUTH INCARNATE, and also for the sake of the countless souls put in danger because of this movie, and for the same of this woman's salvation. NICOLE KIDMAN needs to be EXCOMMUNICATED for participating in the creation and promotion of publicized blasphemy. She must be both delusional and disingenuous. With that much money and fame, she definitely had the means to find out what the Church teaches. Ignorance does not excuse her from public scandal, anyhow, how can buy that she was so blatantly ignorant to the 'implication' this film makes against the Church? You have to be pretty smart to memorize all those lines and be a convincing actress. She's NOT, however, a convincing liar. She is not less responsible for her actions against the Church, she is MORE responsible because of her fame.
What these high-fallootin' *actors* don't realize is that the Truth is something that has been handed down and is only guarded by the Church hierarchy. If they are doing any less, to that same degree they neglect their duty. I don't think that these Hollywood pagans realize is that we actually have the faith, and aren't dumb, blind lemmings. They are insulting to us, without realizing it, in some cases.
Is it possible for the laity to sign a petition to call for the consideration of excommunication of a public personality once they demonstrate a pattern of committing public scandal and grave public sin? I mean, we shouldn't need it, since excommunication is not a democratic process (thank God), but it would demonstrate that the Church is made up of living members with living faith that will not be put to shame. Let these creators of this blasphemous movie project be put to shame. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions to this end?
Perhaps Ms. Kidman's excommunication would prompt her to learn about the faith. If she decided to not repent, she could do no greater harm by continuing to say that she is still a "Catholic" while promoting her blasphemous work. It's about time the Church start cracking down on these public heretics. Ms. Kidman might be offered an adult catechism class to orient her to the teachings of the Church, and then be given an opportunity to repent and make a public apology (as did Mel Gibson, quite bravely), and then she could be reconsidered as no longer being an anathema.
