Geological activity has spiked recently.
They've closed ALL the geysers to the public. They look like forest fires there's so much steam. There's a picture of a melting road making the rounds on the Internet -- but apparently that's not an actual picture. That's some kind of stock picture of a road with asphalt damage! So the real picture could have magma oozing out of it for all we know. Why don't they show us the actual road that's been closed?
But I'm sure the officials/scientists at Yellowstone have a reasonable and scientific explanation for all this. They wouldn't try to hide anything, would they?
Well, apparently they are.
They are now LOOPING many of the webcams around the park, so as to hide the true state of things right now.
If you've watched ANY disaster movie you know what Government thinks of "the people". We're a bunch of skittish children who must be kept in the dark "for our own good" lest we panic.
Something along the lines of:
Scientist: Why did you willfully hide the truth just now from that news reporter? That's not the situation and you know it.
Government official (angrily): What do you want me to say? You want me to get out there and tell the whole world we're about to have a Supervolcano eruption? There would be so much panic and chaos, it would make the L.A. riots look like a girl scout meeting! I'm sorry, I don't want to have that on my conscience."
Speaking for myself, I'm not a child. I'd rather know the truth, even if that truth is horrible to contemplate.
And many other people agree -- both with the government's likely reaction to any disaster, and their own desire to know the truth. That's why alternate news is so popular.
Remember, there are also people today that think it's best to keep the knowledge of imminent death from a patient. That's an actual debate: to tell them or not to tell them. For a Catholic, it's no contest. Tell the person, 100% of the time. Everyone deserves time to prepare for death, even if it's only spiritually.
