I've recently taken on a project of recording old historical text of the Catholic Church in old style manuscript form using both sketch and calligraphy.  There are so many things of reference but I've selected some things which I find of personal interest as well as having shaped and protected the Christian religion across the world.  Starting off with Pope Urban II speech at Clermont to Joan of Arc's first letter to the English prior to the lift of the seige of Orleans.  Currently, I'm putting down the Bull of Indiction from the Council of Trent.  A friend suggested Lumen Gentium, Dogmatic Constitution on the Church and after reading the first few pages I found it both beautiful and enlightening.  I will certainly take on the work of recording this as a full manuscript book as well.  I'd like to invite you to see my page by page process as I take you through my ongoing work at www.catholicmanuscript.us

I've found that the careful process of putting down each letter on paper takes me slowly through these docuмents and allows me to take in the words and context thoroughly.  It's a great learning process.

You should choose a different text.

I like your calligraphy a good deal, the letters, but I think your artwork would be better inked rather than hmm, is it colored pencils?

In your case, a solid color background looks better for letters and objects.

If you stick to simple symbolic objects I think you'll do much better than the more complicated human faces and figures.
