  • I was just surprised to discover that I have been ignored by 1 person.  Sorry if I'm a pain or an idiot.  Wow.  I don't know if I've ever felt strong enough about another person to actually ignore them on a forum or not.  I'm speechless.

  • If you speak out against the novus ordo and doubt their sacraments you will pick up ignores, depending on who is reading that night.

    Please pray for my soul.

  • Not to be trite, but if Our Lord Himself signed up for CathInfo He would probably end up with more than 0 ignores (!)

    Let's put it that way -- it's not always the fault of the ignoree.

    I guess what I'm trying to say is that even good people form enemies -- Our Lord Himself was crucified thanks to the machinations of His enemies. And who is more lovable than Our Lord?

    So if you have one or two ignores, I wouldn't sweat it. It's a sign of a vibrant, living Catholic forum that allows freedom to its members when you have some differing opinions, animosity, etc.

    Unless you get double-digit ignores -- that's usually the sign of someone who doesn't belong, doesn't get along with people, holds fringe beliefs, etc.

    The only way to avoid animosity such as "ignores" is to form a tight, small club of "yes men" which I'm not interested in at this time.

  • You mentioned that you pray for mercy, CathMom.  That has been my message all along, and look at my ignores.  Matthew is right----Jesus would get ignores.  I get ignores for quoting Him.  If you want to be popular around here, stick with hate and anger, gossip and outrage and forget all this namby pamby, sweetsie romanticism of love and mercy.   :popcorn:

    Of course using words used by another poster as a dig at that poster, will also rack up ignores.

    Please look at the name of the thread and the name of the member who started the thread and one doesn't even need a GED, to see the intentional dig in the words quoted above!

    Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.

    =================================

      Pope Piux IX was labeled by the NY Times "Most Popular Man in the World". Pope John Paul II's popularity turned the papacy into rock start status. This dastardly duo made the Church what it is today : apostasy !

    Douay-Rheims Bible
    If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you.

    =======================

    Quote "Jesus would get ignores. I get ignores for quoting Him. "

      Scripture talks about a famine of the word.

    Douay-Rheims Bible
    Behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will send forth a famine into the land: not a famine of bread, nor a thirst of water, but of hearing the word of the Lord

      Why do you think people run after every apparition that comes down the pike ? Instead of quoting Christ, they help construct the antiChrist world by doing the exact opposite of Ephesians 1:10  - re-establish all things in Christ. Anti-Marian text censored.

    =================================

    "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear"

    Okay, let me get this clear.  When I speak of forgiveness and mercy, this makes me a "sweetsie romantic."  When I speak of swords and daggers this makes me a member of the Church militant?

    I spent a very long time living in anger.  I was angry that, as a Christian, I had to live my life differently that everyone else and probably suffer more than others.  I was angry that I could not go to Mass on Sunday.  I was angry that ....... the list just goes on.

    I speak often of Gods Mercy because I don't deserve it.  I am a sinner.  I spend a lot of time in the confessional.  I also don't want to spend my whole life angry about everything.  I don't think Jesus was angry all the time.  Why should I be?

    Just recently our priest was talking about the lives of various Sts.  They are all so different.  Some were amazingly brazen and crass.  Others had gentle spirits and kind words.  Still others spent their whole lives in silent prayer and meditation.  Others attacked heresies and kept the Church alive.

    I'm not a particularly "nice" person.  I don't mind telling someone the truth when they need to hear it.  I don't mind correcting someone or asking tough questions.  As a result, I don't have many friends.  Never have.  Heck, even my own family members find me hard to take.

    But to come here to a forum of supposedly like minded Catholics and be criticized for not be bold enough, angry enough, hard enough, or whatever enough one thinks a trad Catholic should be is just outright wrong.

    The people I have come to know at my Chapel are amazing.  Our Priest is incredible.  And not any of them are angry or hateful.  I don't believe Truth has to be hateful or hurtful.  It just has to be the Truth.

    But whatever.

    I'm not going to stop coming here and engaging in discussions.  There are some terrific people here with good hearts and honest souls.  I appreciate each and every one's well thought out opinions on most matters.  I've learned a lot in the process.  I just find it interesting that someone decided that I'm am worthy of the ignore button.

  • Talk about words used, recently I was reading what happened at the Council of Constance, and this is a little of the words used to depose John XXIII and Benedict XIII.

    Quote
    That the said lord pope John has been and is a notorious simoniac, a notorious destroyer of the goods and rights not only of the Roman church but also of other churches and of many pious places, and an evil administrator and dispenser of the church's spiritualities and temporalities; that he has notoriously scandalised God's church and the christian people by his detestable and dishonest life and morals, both before his promotion to the papacy and afterwards until the present time, that by the above he has scandalised and is scandalising in a notorious fashion God's church and the christian people; that after due and charitable warnings, frequently reiterated to him, he obstinately persevered in the aforesaid evils and thereby rendered himself notoriously incorrigible; and that on account of the above and other crimes drawn from and contained in the said process against him, he should be deprived of and deposed from, as an unworthy, useless and damnable person, the papacy and all its spiritual and temporal administration. The said holy synod does now remove, deprive and depose him. It declares each and every Christian, of whatever state, dignity or condition, to be absolved from obedience, fidelity and oaths to him. It forbids all Christians henceforth to recognise him as pope, now that as mentioned he has been deposed from the papacy, or to call him pope, or to adhere to or in any way to obey him as pope. The said holy synod, moreover, from certain knowledge and its fullness of power, supplies for all and singular defects that may have occurred in the above-mentioned procedures or in any one of them. It condemns the said person, by this same sentence, to stay and remain in a good and suitable place, in the name of this sacred general council, in the safe custody of the most serene prince lord Sigismund, king of the Romans and of Hungary, etc., and most devoted advocate and defender of the universal church, as long as it seems to the said general council to be for the good of the unity of God's church that he should be so condemned. The said council reserves the right to declare and inflict other punishments that should be imposed for the said crimes and faults in accordance with canonical sanctions, according as the rigour of justice or the counsel of mercy may advise.
    The said holy synod decrees, determines and ordains for the good of unity in God's church that neither the lord Baldassare de Cossa, recently John XXIII, nor Angelo Correr nor Peter de Luna, called Gregory XII and Benedict XIII by their respective obediences, shall ever be re-elected as pope. If the contrary happens, it is by this very fact null and void. Nobody, of whatever dignity or pre-eminence even if he be emperor, king, cardinal or pontiff, may ever adhere to or obey them or any one of them, contrary to this decree, under pain of eternal damnation and of being a supporter of the said schism. Let those who presume to the contrary, if there are any in the future, also be firmly proceeded against in other ways, even by invoking the secular arm. [28 ]

    They didn't miss any words, and if you get a chance read what they said about people who receive both the wine and bread.   Wow, I can imagine what they would say about VII.

    I realize that is the Church speaking; can you imagine all the ignores they would have received.  We are too soft!
    Please pray for my soul.

    Dang CathMomof7, wished you lived closer, you're my kind of woman!  I think God give's some us different ways of seeing things.  So some Saints were nice as could be, and others were full of fire and brimstone.  It's the same way with us not saint material people.  But it isn't nice to attack people who are different then ourselves.  Here's a good example.  In my last post I mentioned I have a high fever and feel like I was standing in the middle of the street yesterday when the garbage truck went by.  This afternoon,  my youngest is going to come by to get me so I can go "sic" the receptionist in her surgeon's office who won't come across with the doctor's note she needs so she can get paid next week.  Why?  Because sometimes it's righteous anger that gets things done.  I'm good at getting things done, but only because God wills it. I'm Sede, but not so blinded by doctrinal differences not to realize that righteous anger is what set ABL on the path to forming the SSPX.

    And don't pay attention to Mary bringing up wiccans. She likes to make sure anyone who doesn't know or has forgotten that I had the huevos to say that after 30 years of being a pagan and many overtime hours put in by my Guardian Angel, I came back to the True Faith.

    Oh Mary, I was a worse sinner then a fluff bunny wiccan.  God could easily forgive them, most of them are just ignorant anyway.  Maybe you can get someone to do some research for you on the temple of the golden dawn.  I want you to get the whole story right, so next time you can tell the whole thing instead of just dropping hints.

    And it all boils down to one thing, The Lord does truly work in mysterious ways!

    Only in Trinity's opinion. No one is going to get criticized here for speaking of God's infinite Mercy. He is both just and merciful. Trinity denies His Justice and thinks things like anger, zeal, action, etc. are sinful, because she has an inordinate obsession with God's Mercy and denies the fact that He is a God that demands Justice, and demands some action on the part of His subjects, just like charismatic Catholics do. So she's going to condemn us as a bunch of Jansenist or whatever, just like the NO goers.

    It's not a big deal. I get an ignore every once in a while too. I dont care. Sometimes there will be a troll that registers and they go and ignore a number of certain people, so quite a few members will have one or two extra ignores on their counter. Good news is that most often they dont stick around, and neither do their ignores, because they get canceled out after 30 days if the person who made them isnt an active user.

    But even if you had like 12 ignores it wouldnt matter too much because there is a LOT of activity on this board, and those 12 are just a small portion of the people reading the posts on this forum... we still have quite a few lurkers here.

    So pay it not mind and have a great day today!  :smile:

  • I have three ignores right now, one from Belloc, one from Roscoe, and the other is a woman who comes here now and then.

    I put roscoe on ignore, just because I didn't want to get into an argument with him, but I noticed something, I never knew before.  Even if you have a person on ignore, you can still read their notes if you reply to another person.  The last 4 or 5 notes come up for a review, and you can read what the person posted.  Now I know how Belloc always answers my posts.

    I wish Matthew would fix that, because it is too tempting to read the person on ignore.  If I have someone on ignore I don't want to see what they posted.

    When I registered here, I thought I would never use the ignore feature since I never used it on other forums, but this forum where we are all suppose to be of the same Faith, I find a few people are just cruel to each other.  Which brings out the beast in me too.  Not good!
    Please pray for my soul.

    I think Myrna, not be able to answer for Matthew, that it's somewhat of a Catch-22.  It's true that if one of the last five responders that can be viewed is on the your ignore list it's not a good thing.  But if you're using one of the previous posts because you're replying to it and you didn't quote it, it helps you remember what was in the post you're replying to.
