  • Women can play competitive sports against only other women, meaning an official game/match; and provided they are modestly dressed in a skirt.

    As for a motorcycle...I wouldn't call it uncatholic...maybe unladylike

  • There is an excellent TIA article on this subject. Important read for women and mothers of daughters:

    Women in Sports:
Natural and Unnatural Challenges to Purity

    http://www.traditioninaction.org/Cultural/B003cpWomenSports.htm

"The violence of certain sports is contrary to the feminine spirit. Besides the immorality of the clothing, there is an action against nature"

"But it is not only the dress that is objectionable, the positions and stances that girls and women assume are frequently prosaic and often clearly indecent".

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • If a woman drives a motorcycle she should wear a helmut.

If she is riding the motorcycle for sports, that is definitely unfeminine.

If she is riding it to get from one point to another for other purposes, especially say for works of charity, (a nurse tending patients at home in far flung places) it is commendable.

  • Great topic.... its totally a part of the Jєωιѕн/masonic agenda to make females masculine and males feminine. I think almost everyone on here would agree something like women's MMA (and perhaps even MMA with males) is totally diabolical. As a former high school and collegiate wrestler, I find MMA to simply be barbaric; I enjoy a decent boxing match (not the recent "fight of the century"), but MMA is simply too violent, and its just diabolical for women to take part in that.

Women playing most sports is just a turn off for me in general, and I personally would go as far as to say that I don't even like women being gym obsessed either (as that can be a very dangerous bridge to their masculinization)

I think that it is a matter of how one plays the sports or rides a motorcycle...

Traditionally even nuns have play volleyball, basketball, soccer, and similar sports without there being any question of scandal.  The primary focus should be dressing properly, and not getting too much into the sport so that it is uncouth.

As for riding a motorcycle, it might be sort of the same as with a bicycle or a horse...A proper outfit and proper decorum used as the means to get to and from places.

  • Some Muslim women ride on motorcycles with their husbands. They even ride side saddle, which looks a little dangerous.    I think wearing long clothing on a motorcycle is dangerous. I'm sure they have some problems with it, especially if they drive too fast.

I always wear long dresses when I ride bikes, horses, etc...

In fact I actually ride side-saddle too!  It is not so bad once you get used to it.  As with riding a bike or anything at all, balance is one of the key factors.  :-)

  • I have a relative who recently took up cross fit competitions.  Her arms are huge and muscular and she brags about her 6 pack. She wears spandex most of the time when she's not at work, and tight shirts to show off her muscles. She likes to compete with the guys, and often beats them.

My husband and I were discussing this today, and he said that he's thinking about telling her that all of her muscles are working against her chance of finding a husband, because no man wants to be scared that he could be outdone by his wife.  To which I replied, "Well, when I'm out in public with her, I can't help but notice how many men take a second look. What is that saying about those men?" To which he replied- "Those men aren't looking for a wife, they're looking for some temporary fun." He also said that women who work out all of the time don't do it just because it feels good- they do it because they are seeking some sort of recognition for it- i.e. the lustful glances, the compliments on how toned she is, etc. What he says is true. It makes me very sad for her.

I agree with what some others have said- I don't think I could go as far as to say it's a sin for a woman to ride a motorcycle- but the way she rides a motorcycle or plays sports could cause her to sin against modesty. Motorcycles, I'm afraid to say are often times, at least in American culture,  immodest for both men and women. Men (and women) like to soup them up with loud motors to grab attention, etc. You go to somewhere like Kampala, and you'll see motorcycles being used in a completely different fashion by men and women- to get around in an economical way.

I enjoy being active, but not competitively. My husband and I will throw balls back and forth for fun, play tag, etc. And the only time I ever win at tag is when he lets me win.  :)  I find I get plenty of activity tending a very large garden and doing other yard work, going on walks, running errands, and cleaning house.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.
