Here's one man's insight -- very good, I might add.
The best I can figure about why it doesn't seem to be general
knowledge that we are in serious trouble is because the major media
outlets have not informed the public that we are in serious trouble.
I can remember being there myself - not trusting my own instincts
enough to follow my inner voice when the clamoring voices of all
others - major media, govt. leaders, societal dictators, all those
who were somehow in the "in" crowd - were either not noticing
anything or saying the opposite. The vast majority of the people out
there probably don't even notice that oil is costing a lot these
days and for the rest, since the talking heads have just casually
mentioned something like, "oil hit a record high today and the
midwest is suffering from record high temperatures," it quickly got
slotted into the category of "ho-hum, more record breakers, what's
on HBO?"
I remember when the correlation between the cost of crude oil and
the cost of gasoline was such that the prediction was when oil hits
$100 a barrel, gas will cost $7.00 a gallon. Ok, we're now $12 away
from $100 and gas is still hovering around $3. So what gives? I
don't believe the math was wrong. It has to be something else. The
only thing I can imagine is that for whatever reason, the Bushies
are keeping the American public anesthetized for just a bit longer
until SOMETHING happens. That means that the oil companies are
subsidizing our gasoline (or someone else, contributing to the oil
companies to keep them happy) in order to maintain cheap gas.
My suspicions as to why, run along the lines of getting the timing
exactly right for a military takeover of the constitutional
republic we used to live in. If the bushies stage a terrorism attack
in the US, invade Iran, or even use HAARP to create a catastrophic
weather-related event, then King George could invoke Executive
Orders to rip out the heart of Congress for a minimum of six months,
before they could even attempt a take-back (he has an army - they
don't). So, considering the timing, I figure they don't want to
invoke those orders until we're less than six months from the 2008
elections. Since gasoline prices could do more to wake people up
than just about anything else, maybe they have decided to subsidize
the cost of gasoline and keep it hovering as low as possible - most
likely creeping up to the $3.50 price within another month or so and
then slowly inching toward $4.00, but not to go over $4 - and then
spring the trap next spring and declare executive orders in effect
by May.
Call me paranoid, call me freakout, call me - no on second thought,
don't call me.
