  • All of the heroes of our secular culture, be they real or fictional seem to cry out in need of the saints.

  • Looks like Andre Dawson and Joe Jacobi are a bit mixed up in terms of priorities. There are some nice sports athletes out there, but most of them are greedy snobs who love money too much and let their fame go to their heads.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Athletes certainly aren't my heroes.

Like SS said, most of them are too deep in the secular culture of greed and snobbery for anyone with Catholic sense to appreciate.

Athlete worship is just as bad as animal worship. People put so much love into animals that aren't capable of rational thought rather than humans. It's says a lot when there's more of an outcry about a dog being killed for fun by a soldier than there is for a school of innocent children being blown up for no reason.
For those who I have unjustly offended, please forgive me. Please disregard my posts where I lacked charity and you will see that I am actually a very nice person. Disregard my opinions on "NFP", "Baptism of Desire/Blood" and the changes made to the sacra

  • I don't watch sports. I have never got "it". I always preferred running and weight lifting and other solitary "sports".

  • Glad I've never "looked up" to any sports stars.   :roll-laugh2:

But why are they our heroes? Firstly because the media say's so, and we don't ask why. Second, the destruction of the aristocracy left a gap of social influence and this is what They filled it with.

Same here to be quite honest.

You're right. That animal worship stuff comes from the environmentalist freaks running the world. Animals don't have souls, so they aren't near as important as humans' lives.

Perhaps the biggest problem I have with sports is that they play on Sundays, some even on Easter and Christmas. I guess they think winning a championship that they can't even take to Heaven with them is more important than keeping Sunday holy by attending Mass.
