Hi, what is the meaning of the symbol indicating that a posting has been "locked"?

How does one earn the honor of having all his postings locked even before the posting has had a chance to circulate for conversation?

Is there a software issue because I noted that even though a thread has been locked, conversation still happens, so if this is the reality, why the block? What is it's purpose?

Only threads are locked (for whatever reason Matthew sees fit). Posters are banned either temporarily or permanently (ditto). But you are not banned. So I don't understand why you ask that question.

Matthew usually gives his reason for locking a thread in the last entry of that thread. After that you can still read the thread but not comment.

Point me to one that is locked and I'll tell you why.

Hello MaterDominic...When you look under the General Discussion posts, you will see an icon on the left of my posting. This icon is supposed to represent a blocked thread and all of my threads have that icon..

I am new to the CathInfo system and perhaps its just a technicality that I don't understand.

Look forward to any assistance in understanding that can be offered....thank you

Do you actually see a lock or is it just a black dot?
The dot only means you've posted in that thread.
I have to go to pg3 of General Discussion before I see any locked threads.

Thank you so much, that explains it to me. I got the dot mixed up with the little lock symbol. Tommorrow I need to go buy new glasses :)
