  • There are about 5000 recognized saint, blessed, venerable and holy angels in heaven. We know from the Scriptures that they actually are by the millions upon millions. All the saints, and angels hear all the prayers. This is why "calling the Lord's name in vain" is a Commandment against.

Unknown saints may intercede for a particular prayer by means of a Saint who is known to us. For example invoking the intercession of Saint Maurice & Companions will bring a minimum of 6000 Saints, because Maurice was a Roman general ahead of 6000 Roman soldiers who were all martyred for the faith. The intercession of St. Maurice & Companions logically might be useful during war, since this complete army knows what it takes to win a battle. To invoke a Saint such as the Little Flower might bring many thousands upon thousands of little souls who love God to their utmost.

Some saints offered marvelous poetries to Our Lord, such as Saint Gertrude the Great, or to Our Blessed Mother, such as did Saint Francis of Assisi.

All the invoked saints in heaven have a fair shot to at least ask for the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, who is always ready to assist us towards Her Son. This is how it seems to work in heaven. Naturally our own intentions must be loving, charitable and faithful.

There are some saints who are never called for. Those have been forgotten and are waiting. For example Saint Philomena was forgotten for over a thousand years until been recently discovered. This little Greek princess, martyred for her love for Jesus, seems now to be making-up for the long years of silence from earth. She is known to be a real darling for her many intercessions that range from the big to the cute. Long-forgotten Saint Philomena, powerful with God, proves that saints, blessed, venerable, as well as the holy angels are longing to help us.

So in this forum, please tell us who is your favorite Saint, and please tell why?

  • I like St. John Neumann, bishop of Philadelphia, USA  and Saint Pope Pius X because of their holiness, charity, humility and poverty.  They loved God, Our blessed Mother and the true Catholic Mass, Rosary, teachings etc.

I often pray that our bishops would be like St John Neumann, Bishop of Philadelphia who built many Catholic Schools and Catholic Churches.  He and many priests of his time would travel miles by boat, horseback dodging bullets to celebrate the true Mass and Sacraments.

I pray that Pope Benedict XVI would become like Saint Pope Pius X and take the Oath against Moderism and correct all the sins, errors, heresies and  apostacies of Vatican II. Restore the Mass, the Sacraments and true teachings of the Roman Catholic Church inorder to restore All things in Christ.
May God bless you and keep you

Well, I believe you misunderstand. St. Philomena was  revered and well known for centuries until the wrecking crew came through in the middle of the last century. My fourth grade nun was a Sr. Philomena back in the 1950s.  The saint wasn't "recently discovered", but flourished until that time.

So, the silence has only lasted for the last 50 or 60 years. And it wasn't really silence because some of us have been calling on her from time to time.

  • I want to have November 1 as my patronal feast day. I like all the saints and I try to learn from all of them.
Also if there are any in Heaven with nothing to do I say come see me and I will give them something to do.

  • St. Raphael the Archangel:

Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • St Francis for, among many reason, his fidelity to Christ and Hs Church when it would have been so easy to slide into heresy or schism, St. Josapaht for his importance to the Byzantine Church, and Blessed Titus Brandsma for his courage.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • Saint Augustine of Hippo

I admire is powerful mind as well as having been on both sides of the spectrum; to have been in the deepest sewage of vice and to crawl miraculously out of it, and resolving many theological and philosophical dilemmas on the side.

In regards to being a responsible man, would it be interesting to learn, after six years of accuмulating all the wisdom you could, that you had it right all alon

Come on, people. Should we really be giving people down thumbs for posting their favorite saint?

Anyway, My favorite is a toss up between St Athanasius the Great or St John Chrysostom. Two giants of the True Faith.

  • I am fond of Blessed Charles de Foucault. He was orphaned and lost his faith. He was so impressed by the public prayer of the muslims that he was moved to pray, “My God, if you exist, let me come to know you.”

God answered his prayer. “As soon as I believed in God, I understood that I could not do otherwise than to live for him alone.”

I used to write a email on a "saint for today" and send it out to my friends. It meant I had to read up on a saint every day, and I learned a lot that way.

Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

I was a bit surprised by that too, and I am used to being down thumbed for anything.  i was once down thumbed for a post that contained nothing but a quote from the Catechism of St. Pius X.

Perhaps some of "Hitler wasn't such a bad guy" crowd here don't like Blessed Titus Brandsma. He risked his life saving Jєωs from the nαzιs, and was eventually martyred for his trouble.  But since the h0Ɩ0cαųst is a hoax and the Jєωs deserved it anyway, his beatification must have been part of a Zionist plot and since the Germans were all stand up guys during WW II, he must have actually died in a traffic accident or something.

I don't think anyone will wonder why THIS post was down thumbed.

Maybe it was just a random act of down thumbing!   :jester:

Oh, and I bet it had nothing to do with your h0Ɩ0cαųst views.
