Pope Pius XII sent out the encyclical Deiparæ Virginis Mariæ to all bishops, asking them if they approve of a solemn definition of the Dogma of the Assumption of Our Blessed Virgin Mother, Body and Soul, into Heaven. Almost all bishops approved, as stated in Munificentissimus Deus.

Which bishops opposed the dogmatic definition? What were their reasons?
