@s2srea:
I'm always intrigued by what other Catholics do as far as creating sacred spaces in their homes. If you could find that thread without much difficulty, sure. Thank you for offering.
Presently my space is sort of in flux. I have a plan in mind, though, to give it some unity of theme (which it lacks, at present). I think I've finally settled on the theme, however: an evocation of the atmosphere of a California mission chapel. I've managed to acquire a few suitable statues from a Spanish importer, a crucifix in the same style, and a variety of devotional candles. I've even gotten myself a CD of quiet Spanish classical guitar music to give sound to the atmosphere. Now I just have to arrange everything in a way that visually mimicks the prototype, thus creating the right "mood", if you will. It's an enjoyable project.
The Bible (RSV-Ignatius Press) fits in well with its soft, burgundy leather cover and gold-leafed pages. On the cover is an Icon of Christ Pantocrator, in gold, surrounded by symbols of the four Evangelists...which is good, since in order to stay faithful to the theme my icons will have to go. I'll still have that one, at least.
